A fairly uneventful practice session tonight for the 15 minutes or so that reporters were there. Nate will have comments from James Franklin shortly. Otherwise, it was mostly walk-though with little to no contact as the team was dressed in just helmets, practice jersey and shorts with no pads.

On defense, without Jordan Lucas, Malik Golden was running with the first team at strong safety with Marcus Allen at FS. Troy Apke and Koa Farmer were running with the second team. Farmer has been practicing most of the season, when healthy, with the second-team defense, but we've seen him play very little, if any, there during games. With Lucas sidelined, I'm interested to see how Farmer is used on defense going forward. Farmer also stayed after practice finished and fielded some kickoffs, so his role there appears to be remaining the same, as expected.

One other defensive note, Carl Nassib was there but was not lining up with the first team from what we saw. Evan Schwan, instead, and Garrett Sickels were at DE. Nassib was in helmet/jersey/shorts, like everyone else, standing behind the scout-team offense.

On offense, there were quite a few different O-line combinations used with Wendy Laurent at center for all of them. Angelo Mangiro lined up at a couple different positions, while Brendan Mahon was also seen at LG. Wouldn't be surprised to see more heavy formations used over the next couple games, similar to what was used at times against Northwestern.

Also, Saquon Barkley, Mark Allen and Nick Scott were the RBs taking the handoffs tonight. Akeel Lynch was there, but standing on the sideline with other first-teamers who weren't playing, like Adam Breneman and some reserve linemen.

For a few scout-team notes, here are some names I was able to identify who were wearing the jersey numbers of some of Michigan's top guys.

Offense
Tommy Stevens - No. 15 (QB Jake Ruddock)
Irvin Charles - No. 86 (WR Jehu Chesson)
Andre Robinson - No. 4 (RB De'Veon Smith)
Gordon Bentley - No. 82 (WR Amara Darboh)
Josh McPhearson - No. 5 (Jabril Peppers)
Nick Bowers - No. 84 (TE A.J. Williams)

Defense
Kevin Givens - No. 15 (LB James Ross)
Kyle Alston - No. 26 (CB Jourdan Lewis)
Robert Windsor - No. 69 (DE Willie Henry)
Shareef Miller - No. 52 (BUCK Royce Jenkins-Stone)
Matt Baney - No. 35 (LB Joe Bolden)
