Perhaps in a Yonemitsu-type capacity?

Rumor on TheMat from a poster who is certainly no Penn State fan (and it did not appear to be a troll despite all the joking replies after) is that we might be gaining a Russian.

Wasn't someone from Belarus or Georgia there for a time pre-Olympics?

Not sure of anyone incomming... but i did hear last weekend that Morgan MacIntosh has left the Army Elite wrestling program. I believe it was to become (or he has become) an Army Ranger. This might be old news, but it was new to me, so...

I can't tell you who it is, but I did see Sadulaev trying to get into a Waffle House at 5 pm on Atherton.

If he was a Ranger, we'd know it. If he wants to become one, there's a lot he would have to do prior to earning the opportunity.

So the motto of the Rangers is "Rangers lead the way".. Ranger Battalions are light infantry units that are highly trained and prepared to deploy basically at moments notice. You get a Ranger Tab for completing a 8-9 week leadership course which is not easy.

Green Beret are the special forces who really are great at training and teaching military tactics.. there motto is something like liberate the oppressed! Hope that helps

Another great one coming from Japan....

Holy crap. Not a full Russian, but a Russian American - sounds like Cael is after Arujau.

Rumor from TheMat.

Vito is already signed to Cornell I believe.
Could be wrong here, since Cornell is an ivy league school and does not offer athletic scholarships, I believe there is nothing to sign such as a LOI that would prevent him from deciding to attend PSU.

Not according to several sources purportedly. Yianni has but Vito hasn't. I am totally relying on hearsay, however

Since the Ivy League schools don't offer athetic ships they do not participate in the NLI and hence kids no one has "signed" with Cornell and no one will.

So, they can transfer from Cornell at will if they so choose since they are not bound by the terms of the NLI? Or, do they sign something else?
Once they enroll at Cornell they fall under NCAA transfer rules. Cornell is probably the same as most colleges, once you accept the offer for enrollment, you are giving them a deposit. If you do not attend the school, you lose your deposit.

True, though Cornell does send guys to Middle Finger Lake Community College first year. Their NCAA clock starts ticking but they're not enrolled in Ithaca.

In any case, guys leaving there are rare. Only recent one I recall is Peppelman going to Lehigh as a grad school SR. Maybe the board will remember others.

You certainly make that sound easy.o_O

My brother almost lost two toes at Dugway, drown in the swamp at Eglin, and bested any Jenny Craig program by losing 20% body weight in the four modules of Leadership Training. I still have the Ranger Mug he gave me after graduation.

Many of the GBs are Ranger Qualified for the direct fire billets.

The 5 year clock only starts if they enroll full time. If they are part time the clock does not start. As to transfers as far as I know NCAA rules re transfers only apply to those on athletic scholarship so would not apply to any athlete at an Ivy League school.

Caleb Richardson went to Penn.

Back to the main topic:

Would this make the NLWC the best lightweight room in the country?

Wow. Many people miss out on another huge draw that PSU has in recruiting. You've got the college room winning 6 out of 7 national championships, you've got Cael & Co., and you've got this. This may not be up-to-date but off the NLWC website:

NLWC Resident Athletes:

Matt Brown - NCAA Champ

Jon Gingrich

Franklin Gomez - World Silver, currently ranked #11 at 65kg

Mark McKnight

Frank Molinaro - World 5th, currently ranked #7 at 65kg

Brad Pataky

David Taylor - currently ranked #5 in the world at 86kg

Eric Thompson

Jake Varner - Olympic Gold

U.S. Army WCAP Athletes

Vlad Dombrovskiy

Moza Fay

Victor Terrell

In addition you've got:

Nico - currently ranked #16 in the world at 57kg

Yonemitsu - Olympic Gold

Higuchi - Olympic Silver, currently ranked #2 in the world at 57kg

and Cael - Olympic Gold

Almost impossible to compete with in terms of a draw until the NCAA gives membership to a university near Dagestan.;)

I wish their website would get an update.... It is a great RTC and recruiting tool, no doubt. Didn't they win the nations top RTC last year for third time in the last four years?

As of now Arujau is not enrolled at Cornell, nothing would prevent him from attending PSU if so desired (not saying that is the case).

The ivies do have a rule about only being enrolled in the school for 4 years. They like to brag that they do not allow redshirts, truth is they withdraw temporarily from Cornell (as an example) for a semester/year and attend the local community college and wrestle for finger lakes wrestling club. It works out well, for that year there are zero NCAA restrictions regarding practice time on them.
