Here are the past tournaments. So, it would be Indiana next year, but somehow they need to work in Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland. Prior, it was a consistent 11 year cycle

2015-2016 Iowa
2014-2015 Ohio State
2013-2014 Wisconsin
2012-2013 Illinois
2011-2012 Purdue
2010-2011 Northwestern
2009-2010 Michigan
2008-2009 Penn State
2007-2008 Minnesota
2006-2007 Michigan State
2005-2006 Indiana
2004-2005 Iowa
2003-2004 Ohio State
2002-2003 Wisconsin
2001-2002 Illinois

just arrived from my flight from Cedar rapids to Chicago to Harrisburg. Gotta say the Iowa fans AND residents treated me like gold.. Hats off to the Iowa people and THANK YOU for hosting

Iowa fans are the worst in the Big Ten.

We shared a hotel in Iowa City with out-of-town Iowa fans. Every morning at breakfast, our fans shared tables with Iowa fans. Never heard one negative word, not one. This goes back several years for me, as at least twice we also shared hotels...same thing.

I've never had a negative experience with an Iowa fan in person. I don't frequent other teams boards looking for negative comments but I suspect that's where a lot of the ill will originates.

Been to many away football games over the years and Iowa fans by far were/are the worst IMHO. First hand experience

Have you ever been to a Penn State football game at Beaver Stadium? 43 years and counting here, and I've seen more than my share of boorish behavior from our fans. Every team has them.

One farm boy thought I clapped to much and wanted to fight. I stand by my comments.

Ive been to the ER in columbus and the hoosegow in ann arbor.....for friends of course....no issues in east lansing, madison and west Lafayette. minor issues in chicago but that doesnt count. Been to college park and passed through some dump in Jersey on my way to the shore. so yes PSU fans are just as much jerks as any other school.

As for the intranet war between the HR and world, just put it in its proper context and your day will be much better.

Just my thoughts. I was born and raised in PA. for the first 21 years and then moved west. I have lived in northeast Iowa for the past 26 years. Nicest town and people that you will ever meet. I love being an Iowan and the hospitality is un-matched.

With the above stated the Iowa Wrestling fans "when at the venue" are a different type. Seems like when they get to the championships ... like Madison and Iowa City.... they change. Sitting in the Penn Sate section there were many "uncalled for remarks" from some Iowans sitting in the Rutgers's section. At the top of the Penn Sate section some more unpleasant remarks were made after a Penn State win (to an older lady). The mother of one of the Rutgers wrestler... told me that she could not believe how rude the fans were, as did another dad of a wrestler.

The majority were very nice..... it always takes a few bad apples to seemly ruin the bunch. Take them out of "the venue" and you have a different type of person. If you are ever in northeast Iowa... stop by and I'll show you a good time (especially if you like to trout fish :)

For 1 fan?? A little extreme holding an entire fan base responsible for one guys actions...but that's just me.

What area in Northeast Iowa?

Hmm. Wondering if you just had a bad (and atypical) experience, or if this is just a case of "it takes one to know one."

I am sure that ,like the vast majority of fans from every fan base, most Iowa fans are great. I will say this however, Iowa fans were the worst with the Sandusky crap. I know it is unfair to judge an entire fan base on the actions of a few douche bags, but no fan base reveled in our misery more than Iowa. That is hard for me to forget.

I beg to differ, NO ONE was worse than the Rutgers fans. Never read anything terrible on their wrestling board but their football board was awful. Not to mention, I was at the game in Piscataway two years ago and have never been treated like that even at Pitt or West Virginia back in the day.

I don't disagree that Rutgers is awful. But check out the thread on the Iowa wrestling board about Megaludis. As soon as somebody from PSU commented, the Sandusky references started. Again, it was one poster so I don't want to judge everybody, but I was amazed at how quickly it came out.

Went to a football game at Rutgers and I'll never do that again. I guess mission accomplished by them! Horrible

There's one guy over there who says Sandusky reflexively. Sneeze? Sandusky. Stub a toe? Sandusky. Hit his funny bone? Sandusky. Feel free to ignore him.

Listen Nitt the only reason they were nice this year is because they knew deep down we were going to win...Trust me if they were the favorite and we beat them we would have been treated like crap to say the least....I have been going for years to them.

Just wanted to add my $0.02 regarding Iowa fans. Back when Nationals were in Philly, my buddy and I got stiffed by a guy that we had prearranged a deal with for tickets to the finals. We were standing outside the Wells Fargo Center and struck up a quick conversation with an Iowa fan before the start of the evening session. After hearing us vent for a minute, he pulled out two tickets and gave them to us. He wouldn't take any money for the tickets. The seats were 1st level and we sat with the Iowa team's families. They couldn't have been more gracious.

My buddy and I had a great night thanks to that guy's generosity.

Two years ago in Oklahoma City, i found myself in a suite (by accident) for the first session. It ended up being an Iowa suite. I knew something was up as soon as I walked in, so I asked the guy who looked to be in charge. He showed me my mistake... The "S" after the section number stood for "Suite," which my ticket didn't have. I turned to leave and he says "we had a few guys cancel last second, stay and watch with us." I ended up watching all but one session in the suite, beer included!
I'm still waiting to meet the "awful Iowa fans" I hear about. Not saying they aren't out there, but I just haven't met any yet.
