Iowa Wrestlers at Trump event

Matt McDonough was there, Clark, Gilman, Burak too I think. Others probably can identify the rest.

This article suggests it's an NCAA violation for a student-athlete to endorse a candidate but that's nonsense, as any such restriction would run into a first amendment problem--political speech is especially protected. If they were getting paid for the appearance, that might present a problem but I don't think there's reason to think they were.

Aren't all college towns liberal? I'd day IC is liberal enough...

I think that would be cool to see for pretty much every politician...Except Jim Jordan. Don't think Gilman would be mushing his face any time soon.
Good idea, Azchief. Make it a test for every candidate. Think you can stand toe to toe with Putin? Let's see first how you handle a Thomas Gilman facemush!

Iowa City is strongly liberal.

In 2012, Obama swept the county with 67% of the votes, vs 31% for the GOP.

That's surprising to me. I'd bet Obama lost Centre County, although that is just a guess.

Politics aside, our current commander in chief isn't the stockiest guy out there. If that had been a litmus test 8 yrs ago, Jr High Gilman might have changed the election.

The Centre County results:

2012
M. Romney GOP 49.0% 33,697
B. Obama (i) Dem 48.9% 33,677

2008
Barack H. Obama, Democratic 41,950 55.12%
John S. McCain, III Republican 32,992 43.35%

Bush carried the county over Kerry in 2004, Gore carried it over Bush in 2000, and Clinton carried it in 1992 and 1996.
