I would say no. TG has done a few stupid things that he probably shouldn't have, but he is really just a very hard nosed, gritty little wrestler. He is a bright, well spoken kid and works tirelessly to improve. He is very popular with teammates and well liked and appreciated by the Iowa fan base. I am a huge fan of Gilman, and you guys know I have no problem with being an Iowa homer. I call it like I really see it, and you guys would love Gilman if he was on your team.

He'll always be the kid who tweaked out and lost a team point, to lose a dual, in HS to me.
Thanks for the win, Gilman! Hope you got your head on straight for tonight!

LOL.... Something to remember for sure....

Is he a "dirty" wrestler?

I recall a match some time ago where an Iowa guy was on bottom and the top wrestler put some legs in. The Iowa guy got to his feet with his opponent on his back and flopped to back purposefully trying to slam his opponent. Was that Gilman?

Nevermind... Just had to Google "Gilman dirty wrestler". I found it.. . My blood is boiling seeing this again.

Obvious call as well because Gilman left his feet to initiate the slam. Illegal to even fall straight backwards like that, but additionally illegal in that it is a slam anytime you have the opponent hoisted off the mat and you jump in the air leaving your feet while returning them to the mat for additional impact.

We would rather have our man Nico...GREAT YOUNG MAN ON AND OFF THE MAT...VERY SMART IN SCHOOL AT PSU TOO....THERE IS A MAJOR DIFFERENCE....

Give me a break with this thread. The kid wrestles tough as nails and you know what sometimes he in a zone and may give a little shove here or there. This is a mans sport.
There's actually an interesting story on him and Clark - Gilman, amazingly to my superficial view of him, would be the kind of kid I'd hang out with as a college kid - interested in history and low key off the mat. He's a warrior on the mat, though.

He's a warrior, and his entitlement comes from his confidence. Like, I get it. But he has had tool-ish moments.

He was wrestling at the Clash in HS. One of the last few matches of the dual. Skutt is losing, at this point, and Gilman has his hand taped up with 10 lbs of your finest athletic adhesive. So, his opponent from my HS starts targeting the hand, making sure to control it. Skutt faithful are freaking out, "He has a broken hand!" and all sorts of other expletives. To which many of our fan-base replied, "Then why is he on the mat?"

Gilman loses his cool. Curses at the end of the match, surrendering a team point. They win the final bout by decision, and lose on the first tie-breaker: unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

And he's a Hawkeye. That's grounds, itself.

I don't think he's dirty, I just think he's way too emotional. He's the perfect Brands wrestler, ridiculously intense and not particularly cerebral.

You wouldn't know this by their GPA s. Hawks routinely have many academic AA. Sure they shoot game in the quad but let's not get crazyt....

Should clarify, on the mat*. Always felt like Gilman, much like his coaches, can be put off their game when things get chippy. Emotions tend to get the best of them. Seen it happen internationally to Ramos as well.
