Is Aaron Brooks a Lock to Win 184lbs?

Could very well be. However, if he gets to the 3rd weekend in March and he is the healthiest he has been through the season he will be a tough out.
Spencer Lee should be the biggest odds on favorite to win his weight class of anyone this year. Forget about "two knees just operated on", he won comfortably with two knees that NEEDED to be operated on. With that said, it's still true that no one is a lock, especially once you're deep into the NCAAs where everyone is an elite wrestler at the class. Spencer vs Cruiseliner Nick last year would have been a treat to see.

Has it been decided if Brooks will wrestle this year or take a redshirt? I know he's serious about 2024

One bad leg wasn't good enough in Hershey his senior year. Never disregard the field, you never know who is coming up. This is also why you don't just hand Carter or Aaron the trophy this season as well.

Unless it's Gable. Then go ahead and fork it over lol.
We can disregard the field. We've seen Lee against everybody likely to AA. (Except Howard.) Glory is the only one who's shown any life at all.

And there are no new faces of note.

The only question is Lee's health. If he looks remotely like Spencer Lee, he wins. If he looks like SR Jesse Delgado, he'll lose.

Has anyone wrestled at the All-Star classic, and then redshirted? it seems more likely to me that he would just take the Olympic shirt next year, but who knows.

Winning a medal in 2023 sets you up nice for 2024 . I can't think of anyone off the top of my my head who RS after the classic

I love that Mr. Brooks called out fans who complained about Aaron's strategy against Amine in the finals.

More or less said "You're getting mad at my kid for doing that but not at Hidlay for going to the edge against him all day"

No shocker, it was a response to Mason Beckman complaining about us.
Mason Beckman ****ing sucks on Twitter. Whiny, tiny bitch.

I figured that is where your head was with the question. It certainly makes some sense to consider. AB at least probably has a good idea where he needs to be to beat the very best at the weight. Gosh, it seems like a tall order, doesn’t it? My gut says he wrestles both of the next two folkstyle seasons, though perhaps on a pitch count or two. And my gut isn’t all that trustworthy.

My speculation, I wouldn’t be shocked if AB hopes to and if the team looks like they can win without him (losing 24-25 points is significant and brings us back to the pack if we have a lot of holes) then he might. Example if our guys 141 to 165 all look like AA level guys in the fall, AB can redshirt with a clear conscious since that plus our other 4 returning AAs (3 champs) is more than enough. If guys aren’t developing, he might be a “break in case of emergency” situation. Once again just my guess, what isn’t my guess though is that AB is a team first kid.

Similar situation to Matt Kolodzik in 2020 when he wanted to take an Olympic redshirt and saw he could be a huge difference maker for the team (possibly a trophy) and went second semester before getting his last year taken by COVID.

Mason was probably misunderstood. Mason made backing to the edge and doing nothing offensively and sprawling out of bounds art forms of wrestling. I am assuming Mason was simply offering Aaron a critique on when you need to do nothing but guard for 10 seconds, there is a better way.

You left off the kneeling.
Mason spent 90% of his neutral time on one knee.

Geez, AB had one close loss before nationals to an Olympic Bronze medalist. Then he proceeded to handle the bronze medalist in the finals. Ya, he’s a lock.

Not to take anything away from Aaron, but Amine winning bronze at that weight is completely baffling to me, did he win more than one match at most recent worlds?

I agree that Amine isn’t a top 3-5 wrestler in the world, but they don’t hand out Olympic medals to just anyone. And it was a recent medal, not something won 10 years prior.

Plus, it was also “Amine vs Everybody”. That’s really tough odds.

Myles won 2 matches at Worlds, eventually losing to one of the bronze medalists in the QFs.

That's on top of his 3 European Championship medals and his Oly Bronze. I'm not exactly sure how his international accomplishments are being questioned.

Ok, he’s a freestlye monster, right?

You got him beating AB in freestyle?
How bout Valencia?
Mark Hall?? Mark Hall isnt in the top 20 in the world, yet I’d pick him to take Amine.

Sorry, I need a snickers.

Next folks will be questioning the credentials of this opponent of AB.
