I have been hearing a lot of the talking heads talking up Peppers' chances at the Heisman so took a look at his stats. The best part of his game has been in the return game. He leads the nation in punt return yards and averages 17 yards per return, 1 TD, on 15 returns. He also has 6 KO returns and an average of 28 yards per return. While very impressive numbers, this means that in 8 games he has 21 returns, or less than 3 per game, and 1 TD.
He has rushed for 131 yards and has caught 2 passes for 3 yards.
On defense he has made 44 tackles in 8 games, zero INT's and 3.5 sacks. The intent is not to diminish his talents as he is an elite athlete. But I sometimes wonder if people in the media do any research at all or if they simply all parrot the same things others say.
