Is PSU currently an NCAA underdog - FRL discussion

I'm not so sure that PSU will out-bonus tOSU. I would like to think so, and we may. But the likely bonus matches are: PSU--149, 157 tOSU--125, Hwt Could work out pretty close in bonus points.

I'll believe Nato bonusing past the round of 32 when I see it. I think we have a minimum of 3 guys that do it easily this year.

Or Bo.

Or Hall, at least in the first couple rounds.
At Bigs or Nationals, but in a dual setting against the Bucknuts I was saying do not underestimate Cenzo's drive and capability to get a bonus point. If OSU 125 and Hwt bonus equals PSU bonus @ 149 and 157 and things split 5 and 5 CJ may be the guy who delivers.

Of course I think Lee wins at 141 and I also believe 197 is a toss-up.

Sorry, you're talking about the dual, I see now. I agree there. I give us a 40% chance of the W

The underdog label isn't such a bad thing. Not that these guys need motivation, but anything that could make guys like Zain, Nolf, Cenzo, Hall, or Nickal "nastier" is a good thing in my book.

I will be shocked if we fail to win the dual.

I hope you are right, and you may be. I tend to overestimate our top opponents in duals. It would help bigly if we can start someone who can stay off his back at 125

My 40% comes with the huge assumption of all starters starting too, FWIW.

I look for Rasheed to be in the finals in both tournaments.

I love me some Sheed, but if he is giving up 5-10+ lbs as he indicated in Tim's interview, it will be VERY tough to beat the top tier, full-sized 197s (unless he can catch them early).

That said, Haught is a guy who can give up a fall.

Of course it will unfold, but after the tournament Rasheed just had, I'm sure you can understand the optimism. Cassar hasn't pinned a guy all year (iirc), Rasheed just pinned 3 ranked guys in under a minute
It's not about optimism, it's about inclusion. I can show you plenty of optimism, and talk about both guys.

That’s usually the case with any team but this group of wrestlers isn’t just any team. They seem to relish being the “big dog” and the team everyone is gunning to take out.

I personally kindof like rooting for the underdog and a team wanting to prove itself.

A little while back I heard an interview with Cael that had a different take. He said that he didn’t like being the underdog because it means people have lower expectations, and he always wants people to expect his teams to win. Interesting take...

My post on comparing PSU vs tOSU bonus, was in response to the PSU-tOSU dual, and who were the likely bonus guys in that dual. I agree that Tomasello isn't a bonus machine at NCAA's but he has scored 4.5, 3.5 and 2 bonus in his 3 NCAA's so far.

I have to think Zain and Nolf out-bonus Nato and Snyder.
I see I was unclear in my post. I was only referring to the dual meet in response to Clarkston's post concerning comparative bonus points at the dual. I fully agree that at NCAA's Zain & Nolf out-bonus NaTo and Snyder. tOSU has other guys likely to get more bonus at NCAA's than NaTo.

Who would have thought that you could ever have a team with 5 returning NCAA champs and still be an underdog! I kind of like it!

I think it also will be pivotal in the dual and that Zain and Nolf bonus points will carry PSU to a victory.

At this point, it sure seems like Penn State will be an underdog to tOSU in March because even a sizable bonus advantage won't close the gap. PSU needs Nevills to get his mojo back, Rasheed to keep moving up the rankings and Nick Lee to start and AA at 141 just to have chance.
