Is Sean Clifford the most hated 6-2 QB in Penn State football history?

Franklin should have thanked him for his service at the end of last season. After 5 years it was time to move on and look to the future. Playing in a New Years 6 game is playing for "we're number 4" or "we're number 5" at best.
Completely disagree. I think Franklin is playing Allar’s PT just right. Now I think he should get more PT in the next 3 games. Lots of team would love to play in a New Year’s 6 game.

With those two losses coming at the hands of top five-ranked teams?

Thoughts?
What if he shopped around and only could get 100k nil money to come back as a sixth year power 5 starter. Would that tell you anything….

Michigan was not very good in 2020 and 2019 losing four games each of those years PSU beat UM. UM had eight loses those two years and especially in 2019 got beat handily by Wi, OSU and Bama.

FWIW, I have no problem with Clifford starting games but Allar should have been seeing a lot more time this year than he has. Allar should see most of the playing time these next three games but almost certainly won't. Franklin is unbelievably stubborn.

Why should Allar see most of the playing time? We’re 7-2 with a chance to go 10-2 and make a NY6 bowl, so what is the reasoning? Building for next year when you have a chance to finish in the top 10 is not a legit reason.

That's fine if bowl games outside of the playoff games, are of interest to you. Bowl games have lost their luster. Key players with expectations of getting drafted will likely not play. The next three opponents are all very beatable. It's far more valuable to get Allar as many snaps as possible so that he is well prepared for 2023. Practice all he wants to practice Allar six days a week but nothing can substitute for actual game experience. Why would you expect to lose to any of those teams with Allar at QB?

I don’t expect to lose, but coaches can’t take any team for granted. They have to go into every game as if the other team can beat you and you play the guys who give you the best chance to win. And it’s not about bowl games, it’s about finishing in the top 10. Regardless of what some on here think, accomplishing that is a successful season. If the coaches think Clifford gives us the best chance to win, then he should play.

Yes, we disagree and that's fine. If PSU had an easier schedule for the beginning of 2023, I might be okay with Clifford seeing most of the snaps for the balance of this year. PSU starts next year with three of the first four games against the mountaineers, at Illinois and Iowa. I would rather have a very confident and more experienced Allar leading the team in those games, experience that he can only get playing most of the snaps for the balance of this year. .

You guys that are willing to sacrifice 2022 in hopes of a better 2023 are crazy. Franklin is paid to win football games, plain and simple. If he plays what he feels is the lesser QB and loses games, it costs the team, could decrease bowl payouts, damages PSU's reputation for managing the locker room, hurts Franklin's individual performance and possible his contract bonuses, and tells AD Craft that Franklin is intentionally giving less than the team's top performance. Are you going to go in front of the upper classmen starters in the locker room and tell them you're playing a lesser team to prep for 2023 and you don't care about winning while those seniors are still here? Good luck recruiting and keeping the roster out of the transfer portal with that approach.

All of this in prep for a 2023 season that still has no guarantees regardless if Allar starts now or waits until next year. Allar could still not be ready, or could get injured on the first play of 2023. There are no assurances, the team has to take wins whenever they can by putting the best team on the field for every game.

Don’t worry, if we beat them we will find out on here that they weren’t any good, so it’s all good.
