Last year at 141 Mikey Carr didn't wrestle Nick Lee or Joey McKenna in the regular season, was unbeaten in Big Ten duals and 15-2 overall and got the #1 seed at BT's. Nick and Joey had to meet in the semis (both had one loss going in).
This situation at 141 last year looks identical to 133 this year with the extra complication of Rivera coming back. This year at 133 (BT duals):
Gross 7-1
RBY 7-1
DeSanto 6-1
Piotrowski 9-0! (assuming he wins against Purdue, no offense Purdue)
Rivera 1-0
Alvarez 7-2
Lovett 5-3
How are they going to seed this? Where do they put Rivera with only one dual? Where do they put Piotrowski with no dual losses and only two losses overall? Depending on how this is done some guys could have a REALLY tough path. BT seeding doesn't always follow coaching rankings. If they moved Piotrowski into #3, what I have above would be about as good as you could hope for RBY. DeSanto/Rivera in the 4/5, ooof! What if they put Piotrowski as the #1? Gross/RBY in the 2/3 (assuming they win), DeSanto/Rivera in the 4/5. All sorts of crazy permutations here, going to be fun to see how this plays out.
Curious on your thoughts.
