There are 52 republican senators. John McCain is in the hospital. Thad Cochran is also sick. Susan Collins, Bob Corker and a couple of others may want to leverage their vote for a concession or two. Mike Pence cancelled an overseas trip in case his vote is needed. In January there will only be 51 republican senators.
