Is the Parsons situation similar to the Shady McCoy deal

except it was the players, Mike Robinson (?), that called out McCoy.
I don't remember other cases like Parsons exactly but McCoy was supposed to be a big Lion Lean but didn't show respect to the program thru his actions.

The biggest similarity is that each had conversations with the head man, the content of which was / has been speculated to a great degree. The biggest difference is that Shady seemed to really want to come to PSU and it went south big time that one weekend whereas nobody knows what Micah's gut intent is.

Weren't there potential academic qualifying issues also involved in the Shady saga? (as in, it wasn't clear if he would qualify or not a year prior to NLI DAY).

Shady did NOT qualify academically. Plus he made it VERY CLEAR he had no interest in school, just football. He was advised that PSU was NOT for him.
AND PSU is NOT for everyone. Parsons (my guess) may now be more interested in a football only school. Keep in mind "kids" at his level have "people" advising them get to the NFL ASAP, education can interfere with that.

This is absolutely true relative to Shady.

I'm pretty sure that he did qualify as a freshman at Pitt. The story was that he didn't meet Paterno's academic standard for him.

He dropped out of McDevitt and went to prep school and played a year there before going to Pitt

IIRC, McCoy had academic issues in addition to whatever conduct/respect issues there were.

My remembrance is that Paterno told Shady that he had to get his grades in order at Prep school to get a schollie and recommended the school (it was not uncommon for Joe to 'place' kids in prep schools). Shady by all reports had good enough grades, but when he came up for his visit during his senior year, was rather full of himself telling everybody that he was going to start as a true frosh and that PSU didn't have anybody on the roster that could compete with him. Rumor is that MRob and a few other upperclassmen suggested that Shady tone it down and that he would have to earn a spot like everybody else and that nothing would be handed to him. Apparently Shady thought otherwise and told MRob as such. So MRob and some other went to Joe and recounted the story and Joe pulled the ship.

Micah doesn't know what Micah's gut intent is ;)

Shady was right! He was better than any RB that PSU had on the roster at the time. He had academic issues and resolved those and decided to go to Pitt. Anyone that thinks after prep school that Pitt was his only option is high! Shady was a young high school senior. He turned 18 in late July after the end of his senior year. Prep school humbled him and allowed him to mature mentally and physically.

McCoy resolved his academic issues by "buying" a transcript at Milford Academy, a diploma mill (notice any top=level prospects coming out of that shithole since the NCAA changed high school residency rules?) If he learned anything at Milford, he's one of the few.

Don't forget that McCoy also had a significant ankle injury his senior year. With the injury and grades issue, he was pretty radioactive until after prep school. Sometimes things just have a way of working out.

It always seemed a lot more like Noah Spence than Shady McCoy. 5 star defensive end, #4 in the country, that was a strong PSU lean, ended up at OSU. We'll have to see if that's the way it turns out this time.

Must have been his ankle injury that caused him to drop out of McDevitt in the middle of his senior year.

If you mean fans manufacturing reasons why Penn State "backed off" or he wasn't a "Penn State kid of guy" then yes they are the same.

Weren't the offers lined up for him prior to the injury. Everyone knew he was subpar academically, but every program in the country still wanted him. Some schools were willing to look the other way for him, but once he was damaged goods, that wasn't the case. Had to go to plan B.

Can someone remind me of Shady's academic status when he left Pitt? Was he considered a 1st or 2nd semester sophomore? How long did it take him to reach that status? Maybe SreelWill05 might know.

'Young high school senior'

Hardly. I spent several months in college at age 17.

A recruit doesn't qualify academically at Penn State and ends up at pitt. What would crapstain crayon say about this? He has to be just a little OUTRAGED. .

Both are/were high on PSU. Parsons may still end up here and seems interested, but just isn't ready to commit and wants to look around. LWade's tweet supports this.

PSU backed off shady but, if reports are accurate, still wants Parsons.

Why do you care so much? His plan work to perfection!

Everyone? Why do some of you love to question the intelligence of athletes? Mostly black athletes! From the way thing turned out Shady was a genius! Go to prep school, ball out for 2 years at Pitt, go to the league and make mills.

He spent 3 semesters at Pitt. Why does thahe matter to you?

Actually going into his senior year Shady was on the schedule to qualify. Missed a lot of school and got depressed over his injury which affected his senior year. Penn State and Larry Johnson are the ones who wanted him to not graduate from McDevitt before going to prep school. If he would've graduated from McDevitt he would've needed to go to prep school for two years before he could qualify

While I have little doubt that Shady probably was not a great fit at Penn State personality wise and probably did turn Robinson the wrong way I can tell you that the Joe had some very choice words for him when Shady told him He was going to Pitt.

Shady is the PERFECT example of the joke NCAA sports are. Many of these kids would NOT go to "college" if there was another choice. What would happen if the NFL had to have a minor league like MLB. In short, a real choice after HS, including being drafted by a team and then supported through the minor league system. But WHY pay for such when the "Universities" do that for you (as well as make a ton of money).

Horseshit. Your first paragraph makes absolutely no sense, but you just couldn't resist continuing to spin..
