It's Time For Luke.

Would be a great first step. But who could play the role of CJF’s manager? Sandy? Barron?

It's the Players fault for not executing AND the coaches fault for not putting them in a better position to succeed - neither gets a pass. Happy now so you don't have to defend every perceived coach bashing post.
kiss my ass

And bringing in those unnamed strong interest candidates will be a guarantee that we will not have debacles? How'd that work for Florida State? Tennessee?
Both have won games. And as former coach (yes?) how does the turnover cards and celebrating a 9 yard down field tackles and other shenanigans sit with you? Your answer is the status quo?

Of course my answer is status quo if the question is who should be the HFC at PSU next season. If I am the decision maker, I have a coach who won 11 games 3 of the previous 4 years. I then investigate to see how many other coaches would meet that criteria. Then, I take that very short list and cross off the names of those who are not available ( Dabo, Nick etc.) now I have a list I can fit on a needle head.
I then look at the financial implications of buying out a coach in the first year of his contract and add the costs of attracting "a home run hire" to PSU.
These are the sort of steps a decision maker would take (not a whining fanboy).
Perhaps changes on the staff are necessary be it position or coordinators. But I stay the course for a least one more year.....as most people with common sense recognize that this is a year like no other in our lifetimes and therefore like no other in the history of sport.
Let me remind you that each and every year the fanboy population here cries for the head of at least one coach. LOL LOL
Last year it was Rahne. There was universal slobbering tears of joy, when he left. To say nothing of the immediate bromance when Trautwein replaced Limegrover. Let me ask you, how are those new shiny bright objects working out? Should we fire them as well?
This place has not universally embraced a coach since Joe Moorhead. I'd like to remind you of how quickly you all turned on him in Barkley's senior year. Cries of he cost SB the Heisman with his delayed handoff etc. LOL LOL LOL
I feel sorry for you guys. Get a life.
ps
this may all be a moot point, since I think CJF is done with PSU. Good luck in the future.

Wow - you attached that entire diatribe to me? I suggested or advocated next to none of what you attributed. But carry on.

And after all that, you basically agree with all you that you are so critical - just wait until next year? But it’s moot because Franklin’s done after this year? Do tell.

And I noticed you have not addressed the breakdown in behavior on the field. So should I assume you approve? Seems your projecting of “fanboy” applies directly to yourself - look in the mirror.

I’m curious why you think Franklin is done at Penn State.

Since your reading comprehension skills are limited......I said Franklin is done with PSU, in my opinion. Do you understand what that means. He's fed up with PSU and that is why, in my opinion, he will leave. However, should HE decide to stay, he will be back.
Its amazing how fanboys point to "behavior" on the field that is dismissed and even justified when a team in winning.....and look to pick apart when the team is not doing well. LOL
Wait until next year is not a cop out. It is pretty much how most folks approach life. Bad day today, really bad day.....don't kill yourself, tomorrow will likely be better.
You wish to take one season and dismiss the past four as irrelevant. Administrators who are entrusted with decisions such as this generally don't think that way.
I have felt since last year that CJF is no longer totally happy at PSU. Just a hunch and rumors I've heard. Nothing that anyone can substantiate. In any case I'm not worried about him. Unlike all the movers and shakers here, he doesn't have to work another day in his life if he so chooses. In fact neither do his daughter.
During my 20 plus years as an AD, my mantra was that you never replace a coach unless you first have a better alternative.
Please give me the name of a coach who has demonstrated that he is better (over at least 4 years) than Franklin AND he wants to come to PSU.
This person would have a resume of at least 2 -11 win season, 2 top ten finishes and 2 appearances in New Years' Day Bowl Games. I'll be waiting.
Without those candidates, you are just pissing into the wind.

So if Franklin steps out after the season, whom do we interview for HC ?

Keep in mind that I have NO inside information. I'm drawing on my limited experience at a MUCH lower level. What I can tell you is that when you are a head football coach, you are kind of like a stallion. You are confident in your abilities and plan to dominate in your domain. This persona radiates and infects those around you. It is a positivity that is infectious and influences others (assistant coaches and players) to follow you and believe in your message. Winning enhances your credibility and further imbues you with opportunity to spread your philosophy (roots).
Something or someone has knocked CJF off stride. I'm not making the conclusion solely based on this year. I felt this way all last year. He seemed distant, sullen and distracted. It is dangerous to speculate, but I have......it could be something with the administration, or it could be a family issue....the possibilities are endless. It could be that he's come to the conclusion, that PSU will never consistently be better than Ohio State. Once again, it is my speculation and I have no idea why. But this year between the injuries, illnesses. opt outs .....conference starts and stops and his family in Florida..hey maybe Fumi doesn't like State College? Let's start a rumor.

Thanks. I thought Franklin was engaged last year, but he is clearly different this year. Hopefully you are wrong in your assessment because I think Franklin is great for PSU, and I don’t know who would be a worthy successor.

It’s amazing how fanboys are able to project how their objects of affection “feel.” If you have some insight, please share it if you dare. Otherwise, spare us your condescending lectures and show us how you can engage in a civil discourse rather than dismissing every opinion that is not your own as invalid. And newsflash, your 20 years as an AD podunk high, etc. do not make your opinion unassailable nor does it impress anyone other than perhaps yourself.

I could care less how many here are impressed with my career experience. I apologize if my posts seem condescending. Rather they are meant to reflect sympathy for your ignorance. I'm not running for office. I'm simply amused at how pained and desperate some are because PSU is having 1 losing season. I can't wait to tune in daily and field the outrage and swim thru the tears. LOL
But good luck with raising 32 million to buy out CJF. He's laughing at you all the way to the bank, either way.

Everyone knows based on the current circumstances they are not going to fire Franklin minus some type of misconduct. Barring him walking away for reasons of his own, which I don’t discount, he will be back next year and probably at least one more unless there is a turnaround that IMO most likely isn’t going to happen. That doesn’t mean people can’t express how disillusioned they are with the program and what a dumpster fire It has become. Furthermore if people want to have some type of discourse about possible replacements it is ok and they are entitled to their opinion.

I can't imagine anyone being happy with the current record. While you suggest (and I agree that firing CJF is unlikely) let's not pretend that many here are not screaming for his demise. I've always been troubled by people who demand that another person be fired from their job. Should we argue and pretend that they are fundamentally good people?
