Exciting game. Too close for comfort, but PSU pulls it out. Jan Johnson had a really solid game and some key tackles.

Nobody who played on defense can say they had a solid game.

Penn State's D looked more clueless than a Steeler Defense when playing Jacksonvilke or Tom Brady.

A win is a win. The defense looked confused too many times.....but it was exciting to watch.

Watching Michigan-Notre Dame...…..seeing the sideline antics of Harbaugh and Kelly ( Don't have to be a lip-reader to recognize all the F-Bombs )…...it is really hard to root for either of them. So far it appears to be Booger Free.....so there is that.

Johnson and Scott were fine on D...... but some of the rest of our starters clearly don’t belong.

The pass coverage was terrible because of the confusion App State was causing by flooding an area with 2 and 3 receivers. The safties were not rolling to the coverage flooded side. Hopefully they get that worked out.
No pass rush was a major problem. Those 2 career ending injuries to Buckholz and Miller will definitely have an effect on line play.
I wonder if Meyer or Harbaugh would have benched their best interior lineman like Givens was.
That's the problem with college football, the teams don't play on a level playing field. Some teams have stricter academic and behavior policies than other schools. Read about Meyer when he was at Florida and the lack of discipline on the players.

If I recall, that was one component of how that team where the rivers meet had success against us 2 years ago.

I thought Johnson had a good game--but he was cleaning up a lot of missed tackles on the line too.

Also was impressed by how much ground Parsons seemed to cover on every snap. Kid can fly. We've discussed it here before, but I really wonder what kind of wrestler he'd be if he'd kept it up w/ the same intensity he did football. Can't blame him--he's got some learning to do, but he stands a good chance at cashing in his talents for wealth not too long from now.

Noticed on the latest depth chart that JJ is listed as the 3rd team holder! Versatile athlete.
Holder
93 Blake Gillikin (6-2, 192, Jr./Jr.)
15 Michael Shuster (6-2, 209, Jr./So.)
36 Jan Johnson (6-2, 234, Gr./Jr.)

Should learn to be long snapper. P-O's Jon Condo had a really nice, long and prosperous career long snapping for the Raiders without the severe wear and tear.

Parsons and Luketa show definite promise....especially Parsons. That said....it seemed like some blown assignments got them pulled a couple times against App. State. It happened a bit against Pitt in the first half. But once it was clear that the Pitt Passing game was minimal....Parsons and others used their superior speed to thwart Pitt's running game. I love Jan Johnson but I think his time diminishes as the True freshman develop. Being the best long snapper can make you boatloads on money.
