Rumor on the ISU board is that he asked for his release and has a short list of Penn State, Minnesota and North Carolina State. Looks like he projects 149-157.

MN has the lead on him, according to Allar's dad on the MN forum. He's a good dude, so I don't think he's blowing smoke. Doesn't really post much.
I suspect Spyker is playing dumb here just to get a response. No way he doesn't know that Verkleeren is in high school.
Agree, and it seems likely that Verkleeren will get a better offer elsewhere than PSU. Minnehaha could be a good fit, with the departures of Stroker and Early.

If I had to guess, I'd say Minnesota as well. Kind of surprised Dresser couldn't keep him.
Super low scorer, though. It would be interesting to see what Cael and crew could do to open him up. Don't think that's happening in Minny. I would have liked him to stay with Dresser.

Absolute take. He could step right in at 149. Let him and Nick duke it out. Berge should wrestle at 165 and will be a beast. Joe Lee should come in after Nolf is done at 157. Am I forgetting someone? Wish I had Cael's problems.
Anyone know why he'd be souring on ISU? Having Dresser as coach would seem like a good opportunity for the kid.
Dumbfounded how you can be all in with KJ and that clown parade, but not in with Dresser.
Not sure what you are talking about. If it is Verkleeren, it is the Paulsons that he has the connection to.
The fan base is excited about Dresser as a coach.
Between Nick Lee, Mason Manville, Joe Lee and Cenzo, I'd say 149-165 is likely taken care of for the next 3-4 years. Again, I'd take him, just would hope its not for much money, as there already appears to be a decent amount of talent at these weights for the foreseeable future.
As if teenagers' decisions are always 100% rational.
Offhand I can think of a few potential reasons (no basis, only theory):
- Maybe he didn't choose KJ/ISU as much as he chose Allar as his workout partner for 4-5 years.
- Maybe he didn't like Dresser in the original recruitment.
- College coaches are great salesmen. Maybe KJ sold him, and when KJ left he said WTF was I thinking?
Again, these are all hypotheticals, but we've seen all of them happen with other athletes and other coaches at other schools.
Excellent points. Thought Cenzo would move up but forgot about Manville. Hope ur right.
