Jay Throws Down the Gauntlet

Wrong. The time for decorum or whatever you want to call it is over. There comes a time when the gloves have to come off, and that time is now. What do you call what just happened to them, if not vicious? Sorry, but this is not a football game. And how'd the strategy of turning the other cheek workout in 2011 for Penn State? Enough is enough,.

It's not turning the other cheek. It's focusing on the goals.

The Paternos gain nothing by responding to every story - the other side simply has more to throw at the Paternos righ tnow than the Paternos can throw back.

Speaking of turning cheeks, A+ on the sig pic. Can you walk around to the front and take a shot from that angle? I would like complete information to form a valid opinion as to the overall rating of your future ex-wife.

I don't think the Paternos or Sollers gain anything by going on a vicious attack. The game plan has been, from day one:

1. Focus on you can control, not react to everything your opponent does.
2. Prepare a solid strategy by knowing your opponent's tendencies. Know what they are going to do before they do it and expect it.
3. Expect your opponent to try to surprise you with a play, or plays, you have not seen before.
4. The game is not won on hail marys. It's won on proper positioning, strong defense, slow but steady attack, and solid input from teammates who are involved for special plays only.
5. The game is played from starting whistle to the final whistle. It's not over at halftime.
6. Make adjustments when necessary, but don't abandon the game plan. It's there for a reason.

Damn it - it's like the old man sat down at his kitchen table with a bourbon and wrote this himself. This ultimate victory will be vintage Joe.
Reads like the game plan for the 83 Kick Off Classic. It's produced the same results as well.

The Paterno family or their legal counsel are not viewed as impartial. They can argue Joe's case, but to the public they come off as biased. It's hard to overcome the general belief that Joe knew everything that went on at Penn State since he was in fact the face of the university for so many years. I applaud their efforts to defend him, but I'm not sure that the public buys it.
Then the public as you see it is very stupid

So, let the media run away with it again and further cement the narrative? Hasn't worked and won't.

I agree, and I hope they start by suing CNN/Ganim.

we all know how much she enjoys testifying under oath about her bogus sources. :D

As a poster indicated in another thread, I would suspect that 2 of the coaches referenced in the NBC report are Tom Bradley and Greg Schiano. While you are correct that Paterno's staff did not have much turnover during his tenure, there may also be the possibility that some of the coaches referenced could be graduate assistant coaches - at least those referenced in the 2 incidents in the 1980's. The one incident in 1988 I believe referenced a coach seeing "sexual contact" while the incident in 1987 referenced one seeing inappropriate behavior. The "sexual contact" one seems troubling and I would like to know more of exactly what was stated by the coach in question and what, if anything, he reported about it. Caveat here - I am no lawyer nor am I an insurance expert, but I'm thinking that many of these acts witnessed by coaches pertain to Sandusky showering with kids in PSU facilities, which he seemed to do on a more than a few occasions (I believe Bruce Heim alluded to seeing Sandusky do just this on a few occasions in an interview after the Army game flap). Remember that at the time nobody was the wiser about Sandusky and the societal norms and attitudes were different so most people probably didn't give a second thought about Sandusky showering with kids (some of the coaches at my high school showered together with the players in the locker room after practice in the mid-80's). However, now that Sandusky is a convicted pedophile these acts of showering with kids could now be viewed as grooming activities and maybe child endangerment, which maybe the insurance companies are using/spinning to avoid paying out money - again I am no expert but I am thinking that could possibly be what we are seeing here. And depending on how and what questions were asked during the depositions a coach could now be answering a question with "the benefit of hindsight" and thinking that what he saw was now wrong given that Sandusky is currently in jail - again I am not a lawyer, but I am thinking that context could be playing a role here. If I remember correctly, I believe there were documents relating to the 1998 showering incident that indicated there was another adult in the locker room while Sandusky was showering with the 1998 victim, which could have been a coach. I believe Sandusky was convicted on charges related to the 1998 incident in 2012 (but someone can correct me if I am wrong here). So now if there was a coach in 1998 in the locker room while Sandusky was showering with a kid and Sandusky is later convicted on charges related to that 1998 incident, then maybe the insurance companies can use/spin that coach's presence in the locker room as now being a witness to something criminal (?). I will defer to the attorney's and any insurance people on the board to correct me if I am out in left field with my observations.

JoeBatters1 - You are correct - On the first day of Jerry Sandusky's trial, Victim 4 testified that Tom Bradley saw him in the shower with Sandusky once and wouldn't leave. "I think he was suspicious," Victim 4 said in court, during testimony that lasted all afternoon on the first day of Sandusky's trial. He said Bradley stayed in the shower and talked to the two until they both left.

Who knows? If they witnessed such illegal activities, why didn't the come out when it occurred? At the very least, why not validate the claims 4 years ago? Why now? The timing is very odd. I wouldn't want a coach who witnessed that and did nothing on my staff.
It's a person or people who see PSU coming out of this, and having a bright future with CJF and staff who are trying to bring us down again! It's an agenda! I ****ing hate all journalist scumbag liars!!

Schiano went to Miami, became their DC I believe, then went to Rutgers as their head coach reviving their program that was dead for a century, became Tampa Bay's head coach and now is Ohio State's DC. I'd say that's anything but unhirable.

Yes. Now is the time to light things up. It can't really get worse. Set shit on fire and throw gasoline on when they make the move. They have to come out swinging hard, maybe even harder this time than initially. The time time for a patient approach is now lost if there ever was one to begin with.

Understand there are two issues.

Allegations of abuse by Jerry should've taken cautiously and given a chance to be properly vetted.

Allegations against Paterno that we are seeing should be vigorously attacked for the baseless salacious stories that they are.

The two are mutually exclusive.

So allegations made by ms were "taken cautiously" and "properly vetted?" You funny!

All of this over an unsubstantiated claim. It's easy to sling mud, but a lot harder once you introduce the burden of proof. I'm curious to see how well these latest accusations hold water against legal scrutiny. Until then, why not throw a similar haymaker back at them? We have powerful people on our side too.

An unsubstantiated claim that has already been paid out. A little late for "legal scrutiny"...

It's particularly unbelievable when you realize how many enemies Joe had. This was prime stuff to hang him with, and yet, nobody did? The Surmas hated him forever, and they did nothing with this info? The BOT tried to fire him in the early 2000's, and they did nothing with this info? Triponey hated him forever, and she of all people kept her mouth shut, when I'm sure she would have heard something from his detractors.

It is ridiculous at this point.

Yeah, why didn't they fired Joe in the 70s, 80s or 90s if they had all of these suspicions? It's a total joke.

EXACTLY! Make your own unsubstantiated and equally salacious claims like, "oh, btw he did see JS showering with kids and it was repeatedly protested to the BOT."

You better be willing to get into the gutter because the OG will eat you alive if you don't.

Personally, these people who fund PA politics and run PSU would not bat an eye to burn down our school to protect themselves and personal fortunes. ...would not bat an eye.

Take note PA politicians. Stop chasing the money train and start governing. The destruction of PSU will be an economic diaster for the Commomwealth of Pennsylvania.
If you're going to sling back, don't stop short...be specific with claims like "Joe personally told Surma/Frasier/Peetz/etc., and followed up multiple times." Let THEM prove a false narrative.

I think we're learning the hard way that appeasing the CSA mafia is the wrong way to go.

showing sensitivity to alleged victims (even "victims" who have had their day in court and "prevailed") is one thing

refusing to question obviously sketchy claims, and assuming anyone who claims to be a victim must be telling the truth, is a slippery slope

when you have organizations and groups of people actively applauding the potential 9 year incarceration of someone who did not commit a violent or property crime, but merely (in their words) caused "further pain and suffering to victims" . . . it is time to realize these so-called victims advocates are a huge liability to the truth, the Paternos, and to the University.
