  1. On a weekend highlighted by so many great nonconference battles, the attention given to a longtime rivalry that's recently been rekindled was minimal. Penn State hosted Pittsburgh for the first time since 2000 and thoroughly dominated en route to a 33-14 victory over the Panthers.
  2. How did that resonate with voters? Meh.
  3. Penn State fell one spot in each poll to fifth, getting leapfrogged by both Oklahoma and USC and moving ahead of Ohio State.
  4. The dip isn't that significant and such minor drops appear all over the polls, though it does speak to the importance of who you beat as much as how you go about doing so. Because Pitt wasn't ranked, the Nittany Lions didn't get as much credit as they would if their in-state rivals been in the Top 25.

Ironic that had we beaten Pitt last year, we're in the playoff.

If we had beaten anyone Week 2 of last year, we would have been in the playoffs and Washington would have been sitting at #5. Nationally, there is no upside to playing and beating Pitt.

But we played Pitt. So...............

pitt is now just another cupcake on our schedule. Franklin has so thoroughly out-recruited Narduzzi that pitt can't compete with us. We beat them by 19 points on Saturday even though we under-performed. If we played them 10 times this year, we would win all 10 games and probably by an average score of 35 points.

pitt is no longer competitive with Penn State. Bottom line.

Exactly... to paraphrase Jim Carey in Ace Ventura, Pet Detective: Pitt is Akron... Akron is Pitt... Pitt is Akron... Akron is Pitt!
