Jim Clemente named in $750M defamation lawsuit

I've always been convinced that Burke was the killer. Jim Clemente is a really well respected former FBI agent for the BAU.

One would think that CBS would have had their legal review that show before it aired and made sure they were pretty tight before airing it. So either CBS is really stupid or this won't go anywhere.

I know everything in life is political to you. But you can bet that CBS has extremely competent and professional lawyers.
I am sure this was vetted by their entire legal department and outside team. I am sure this is completely BS.

$750 million? The amount requested in the lawsuit indicates it's BS!

Fake but accurate CBS?

Clemente should be targeted and if there is justice in this world then Burke Ramsey should own cbs when this is all said and done.

Don't know beans about the case, but Burke is going to have to prove it is false.

I too know little about the case but interestingly, he's apparently already won 3 libel lawsuits against some big media entities.

IIRC a judge found in favor of the family (in Atlanta) that paved the way for this.

There's simply no other explanation than someone in the family killed her.

Won the lawsuits or gotten settlements?

I just did a quick search and found the following 4 lawsuits (he could have won more but I immediately found these 4):

1. Ramsey vs The Star for $25M (=$35M in today's dollars)...confidential settlement in 2000.

2. Ramsey vs Globe for $35M (=$47.5M in today's dollars)...confidential settlement in 2001.

3. Ramsey vs Boulder police detective for $80M (=$107M in today's dollars)...confidential settlement in 2002.

4. Ramsey vs New York Post for $4M (=$5.2M in today's dollars)...confidential settlement in 2003.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think stuff like innocence and guilt should be decided in a court of law, not by a panel of experts on a network TV special.

Isn't this the same kind of stuff we hate about Freeh? Interviewed only some people involved, not others. Was any proof offered, or just "reasonable conclusions?"

Clemente was caught presenting falsehoods on the show.

Let me look around for a few minutes.

Forgive my ignorance, I suppose getting a settlement and "winning" the lawsuit are indeed different?

Yes, they are. If they settled with Burke Ramsey then Burke Ramsey didn't win, and those who paid didn't lose. They just came to an agreement that if they paid Burke X amount that would be the end of it. No one admitted to anything.

Have you been paying attention to some of the recent "network news" issues lately?

Serious question

It's been a long run of one "unbelievable story" after another

Today's "network news" would make 1980s era "National Enquirer" blush - - - and say, NO WAY we can go with that story

Watched that show - made it to about the 10 minute mark - - - got to the "911 Call Analysis"
By then it was clear it was a pile of crap - designed to be ratings grabbing "entertainment"

Honestly, Clemente (and the rest of the "experts") came of as about as intelligent and credible as any other Reality TV Stars
If I had just staked my reputation to Clemente's credibility - - - I'd have been pissed

Now, in their "day jobs", some of them may be very good - - - - but if they are, it surely appears they sold their souls to the Devil in exchange for a few sheckels from this TV Show's producer

Forgive me if this was previously posted.

It may be of interest to some of you.

There is nothing wrong with saying, the evidence seems to point in that direction but only additional DNA testing will prove anything. That, in a nutshell, was what that show actually was. There is no basis for a suit. You can't sue someone for presenting a theory.
