From the G Spanier Jury Foreman:

"His wish, Black said, would be that Spanier's defense team would have presented some testimony by or on behalf of Spanier.

Instead, the defense rested without calling a witness.

...
Had they had that, Black said, he and a handful of other like-minded jurors on the panel might have been willing to hold out to the end, likely forcing a hung jury."

Most F-ed up cluster of a "defense" ever.....and you could see it coming from a mile away.(at least some of us could :) )

Silver - or whomever was behind that "strategery" is a flat out moron (or something more sinister)

JockstrapJonnie and his clowns won't like this.

I think this was a better outcome than a hung jury. Yes, the state might not have re-tried in that case, but it would have hung over Spanier's head and that he got off on a "technicality". The way this happened, he was explicitly found not guilty on the actual serious charges -- and will likely get the one conviction overturned on appeal anyway.

This also blows a massive hole in the Freeh conspiracy theory and helps Spanier with his lawsuit there.

The Spanier trial was the (long shot) last hope for winning this 6 year war and his lawyers blew it
The "truth"....that barely breathing shell of the "truth" - that was gasping and wheezing as it was......

It got shot right in the MF head by Spanier and his Blue-Blood Asshole defense counsel.

Flat out idiocy? Or something worse?

Who knows?

what good would a hung jury have been? none whatsoever

their job is to keep their client out of jail, not to make you happy and not to find the truth -they beat all but one charge and when they win the appeal on that one, they will have won

what good would a hung jury have been?

From the standpoint of Spanier?

Seriously? What "good" would it have been?

Uh.....he wouldn't have been convicted of "Endangering the Welfare of Children"?

Maybe he just might have figured that to have some "good"?

Holy Moley.

WOW!

and then he would have been re-tried on all the charges- so he would have been much worse off- try to think past the end of your nose

LOL

The chances of the State attempting to retry that abortion - after a mistrial?
Somewhere in the vicinity of ZERO and NONE.

What a rich comment that was........

ROTFLMAO

You really are unaware that they could have tried him again? Wow.

Legal rope a dope.

Assumed there was no way to get away from a Pa jury, marinated in Sandusky BS for five+ years, without some sort of guilty verdict. Work the lowest possible outcome with the jury then win on appeal. Not dumb at all.

Blame it on spanier just like everything else. His liberal leadership cost him dearly and brought penn state down with him. His trial was as passive as day one when the story broke. Screwed it up every step of the way!
