I thought the crowd was pretty good for a game that is in the middle of a long home stand and with it being the first canning weekend for Thon (student section wasn't full, but it had more kids than I originally had thought there would be).

A few random thoughts....

- the SDSU running back is a really talented and annoying kid to defend- both as a running threat and a receiving threat.
- hate the injuries. Glad it seemed like Barkley was trying to wiggle his way back in the game, but the staff had none of it. Lynch injury did not look good. Thomas??? Robinson??? Not a knock on Allen or Scott, but big drop-off from Barkley at least initially.
- outside of a really bad angle on a long run, I thought Reid continued to look really good for a true frosh. I haven't watched a replay to see where some of our lapses were on their successful passing plays, but I thought he played well. Other DB's got significant time with injuries and the defense overall played well outside of a couple series.
- special teams may have cost us the game versus a better opponent. Still can't believe Thompkins almost fumbled another punt late in the game when we were up by 2 scores. Why would you even attempt to catch it??? I think we will break a kickoff return for a TD at some point sooner than later.
- DL played a really good game and I was so happy for AZ that he was able to perform so well even with everything he is having to deal with on the personal side. Also interesting the rotation they used at times with AJ, AZ and crazy Carl all out at the same time.
- Weird that we seemed to pass-block better today than run-block, even when it became apparent that our main running weapon was no longer an option today.
- Barkley is special!
- Hack played his best game of the season. Yes, he missed a couple of throws, but I thought he did a much better job today and hung in on some critical throws. One pass he missed long was an absolute cannon with a perfect spiral.
- One of the weirdest flows to a game I have ever witnessed. We were dominating at times, yet felt like we were only a play or 2 away from losing.
- Honestly don't know if we would have won if we didn't have the TD fumble-recovery from AJ. That play was HUGE!!!!! Momentum was not our friend at that point and we were struggling offensively a bit in the 2nd half.
- Very few times do you see a team in the 4th quarter losing by 2 touchdowns running, and a team winning by 2 touchdowns passing????
- Hated the play-calling on one of our final drives with 2 passing plays, including a sideline pass that could have been picked and put SDSU back in the game. Not putting that on Hack as much as on Donovan.
