a few years ago, and many PSU fans were really afraid of the "haul" that Harbaugh had made in SJ. First the obvious player to point out is Ahmir Mitchell (Cedar Creek High School) who was kicked off the Michigan squad before his career even really started. He then migrated to Rutgers (naturally) where he was again kicked off the team. So much for THAT bullet that Franklin dodged.
The other two kids from Camden, NJ High School are Ron Johnson and Brad Hawkins. Johnson is buried deep down the DE depth chart and might never see much playing time...still to be determined I guess. Ron's a nice kid, but I never saw him as a real 4-star talent.
Finally Brad Hawkins (rated a 4-star WR by Rivals), another really nice kid, had to go to prep school for a year before going to Michigan. So far he has seen the field only as a backup return man on kickoffs. He is no longer a WR but has been transferred to Safety. I'm guessing that he doesn't see the field much either this season or maybe ever.
IMO Franklin once again proved that he is a REALLY great evaluator of talent and (in Mitchell's case) character. I can't say the same for Harbaugh though. It seems he was 0 - 3 in SJersey recruiting that year although he did get Gary from NJersey and stole Dwumfour at the last minute from PSU. But IMO he SERIOUSLY misjudged the other three kids, while PSU moved on to other kids who contributed along the way.
