....in a couple years PSU's starting line-up might be dominated by non-PA starters, Cael just "lights up the net" with a couple more scores. Cael's only been at PSU 8 years, but the number of PA-bred National Champions and AAs is staggering - he is dominating PA like no PA Coach prior to him ever has (Lorenzo was a great coach, and left the program in great shape when he left, but even his production of PA All-Americans and NCs was minuscule compared to what Cael is doing). This has allowed Cael to win Team NCs immediately which has translated to now getting the pick of the litter nationally. People keep talking about other programs "catching-up to Cael", but how do you catch up to him when he has the fastest car on the track???

Makes you almost feel sorry for the other programs. It's like a stock car trying to keep pace with an Indy car. If I'm a division 1 coach, I don't know what feasible plan you could come with, to match what Cael is doing.

For wrestling's greatest coaches, it's Cael now in the same sentence as Dan Gable, and no contemporary is close.

Same plan and advice I give my guys when they drop a tough match: Wrestle Better.

Wrestler: Coach, what can i do better?
Wrestle. You can wrestle better.

W: Any advice or scouting on this kid?
Wrestle better. Score more points than him, and you win.

W: What am I doing wrong? Why am I not winning?
You should try wrestling better.

I agree with this assesment, but would add that in reference to Lorenzo and that era there were a lot more high caliber D1 wrestling programs to compete with on the recruiting circuit. In other words, schools like Clarion, Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Pitt, Lehigh, West Virginia were top 20 schools and had the full range of scholarships to provide thereby making it more difficult to be a monopoly.

I love it! What was that? The drive-kids-crazy lyrics to a new "Shaddup You Face" song? ;)
