Just when you think PSU’s men’s B-Ball deserves its lofty rankings....Lose 2 in a row!

BLAM!

A very cold dose of reality hits you straight in the face and you falter.

:);):)
More like a bad case of the flu.

M Jones really opens up the offense because he can make 3s from distance, take it to the rim, or stop and pop for 2. Wheeler brings a lot but his moves to the hoop often result in nothing.

Surprised they've performed as well as they have with M Jones absent. Extra minutes for others starting to have an impact.

Everyone (and I mean everyone) had a really bad game last night, and they still were in it until the end vs. an underranked Illinois team that just got back their superstar player, that was basically playing in a must-win game.

Losses like this happen to everyone (especially this year), pick up and move on to the next one.

Maybe they all had a bad game due to the way the opposition played.

I think we have the ability to compare what we are seeing now vs. what we know to be great. I can look at THIS Penn State team and know it's better than last year's team. I could look at THIS year's Alabama football team and know that it was not a great Bama team when compared vs. some of the great teams they had the last few years. I can look at Villanova THIS year and compare them with the great Nova teams the last few years and say "THIS Nova team is not great". I can look at Duke THIS year and by comparison say that they do not have a dominating great player like they did last year in Zion Williamson who could carry them into the Final 4...... Couldn't you look at Penn State's Offense this year and say "We do not have a great Offense like we did in 2016"....

Boy did NC St. put it on the dookies last night huh?

Oh yea!!!

:):D:)

Yup. Baylor & Kansas are playing pretty consistent, but how much of that is due to playing vs. Big12 teams? And San Diego St and Dayton have very gaudy records, but how much of that is due to playing vs. their leagues? Take away Baylor, Kansas, SD St and Dayton .... and I would NOT call any of those 4 teams "great". And college basketball is exactly what we see this week: Penn State losing to Illinois, Duke losing to NC State ..... No "great" teams this year.

A few weeks back I was listening to Seth Greenburg on a radio spot and he stated that this year you could probably take the top 20 teams in the country, play a tournament 10 times and come away with 10 different winners because all the teams in the top 20 are so even this year. He said on paper Kansas is probably the deepest and most talented team, but they are not dominating.

Relax.... What we saw last night is "college basketball 2020". There really are no great teams this year. Penn State is not, and never was a 'great' team. Baylor is not great. Duke is not great. Kansas is not great..... There are no 'great' teams in college basketball this year, which means any team can lose on any given night. There are many pretty good teams who are all pretty equal.

Penn State is still a good team. They are a legit Top 20 team in college bsketball this year. Last night does not change that.

Baylor isn't losing on any given night.. Must explain their huge streak they have going.

Baylor is 1
Kansas is 1A

then there is a huge drop.

You can also say how much of PSU record is due to playing in the B1G? Let's not forget how Illinois faired OOC this year, losses to Missouri and Miami, both with Nets over 100.

The Big 12 isn't a bad MBB conference. Baylor and Kansas are 1-1A in college basketball. Texas Tech and WVU are solid. Oklahoma has had some good moments this year.

I guess we'll see how weak the B1G is and how strong the Big12 is come NCAA selection time.

Good points sir.

Losing to a top 25 team without your 2nd leading scorer and having your best player have an off night. Not exactly a reason to worry. I could see Illinois make a deep run in the big and ncaa tournament. Stud guard and big, role players who are solid and might be an elite 8 team if get the right match ups

Bingo! And after watching Iowa tonite I can say the same thing about them minus the stud guard. Without a doubt, they enter the ball into the post better than any team I have seen this year. Have not seen a team more committed to getting their best player the ball where he wants it than Iowa. I can't wait to chat with guys during this years NCAA tournament. Good luck in your brackets fellas, I expect alot of WTF's....gonna be fun.

not in any debate or discussion just hate when people split up their loyalties hence why I think you’re a dick

Sure it is a discussion.

And your name calling is a very good indicator of your unfortunate childish way of responding.

And psych person can vouch for that.

You can call me that 15 - 500 times and it won't change me.

As you know, GLOV, I am critical of the continuing name calling on this board. I can't understand why some here cannot disagree on a subject without ad hominem attacks. It is unfortunate because it diminishes the quality of the board. If I were a mod there would be less of it because those who were continuing offenders would be gone.

Trying to clean up my act; turn over a new leaf if ya will.

You going to the Pens - Buffalo game tomorrow sir?

You are a good man GLOV. I mean that.
As for the Pens, the wife and are are homebodies. We occasionally go out to see a movie, but spend most of our time in small gatherings with good friends.

If Chambers doesn't get National Coach of the Year, it's fixed. This year has to really help your recruiting going forward

He isn’t getting National Coach of the year.

There are several coaches who are ahead of him like Scott Drew and Brian Dutcher.

He should be Big Ten coach of the year, if we finish ahead of Illinois. But even then maybe Turgeon would get it. National coach of the year - no way

you guys are pretty sensitive. If you can’t take someone calling you a dick on a message board for trolling it’s members than you shouldn’t be on a message board.

It has been my observation that this message board, thanks to Tom McAndrew, has historically been held to a higher standard than others I have visited. Whenever I see that standard slipping, I make note of it. I see no reason why there can't be debating without debasing. The intellectual level on this board is high. Members should be able to make their point without personal attacks. That said, it's not my board and it is free, so individuals can chose to leave if they take offense to the level of debate. Some good members have done just that and the board is diminished by their absence.
