Kansas City hotel canceled

I went to a few casinos on wrestling trips this year. Not typically my thing. I hit it well before losing 2/3 nights. Last night, I took them for $700.

I'm a pull tab/e-tab addict. Walked out up over $1000 last weekend. I've been on a heater this winter. I need to stop while randomly ahead.

Can anyone name ONE neighborhood in PHilly that is neat, clean, safe and has a good non charter public high school? Name that mythical neighborhood. There is a reason ZERO elected officials in PHilly have their kids in non charter public high schools.

There are some good charters if you are politically connected. The general population does not want to campout for three days to get their kids in a lottery for a 1 in 100 shot at going to a school where they wont mugged on a daily basis.

20,000 reported crimes in the SDPhilly each year. Most years there are zero expulsions.

Can we not go on political tangents on this board?

They're in NJ

I would have lost my mind. Frankly I think overbooking anything (hotels/airlines) should be straight illegal. You make all the plans, do all the right things and pay and then you're told you're out of luck? Yeah right. If I make a reservation there better be a goddamn reserved room or seat on a plane for me. Sorry man, this really sucks.
Then cancellations should also be illegal. You book it, you own it. No refunds.

Terrible experience yesterday with Chickie's & Pete's in South Philly after the Phillies game -- sharing so everyone has real expectations of going there between sessions.

The "Crab Taxi" shuttle left the stadium every 15 min. We had to wait in line for the 3rd bus. Ours was so packed that a guy on crutches had to stand -- others offered their seats, but there was no room to switch places with him. (OTOH, it was so full that he was held upright and still by bodies.) The side windows wouldn't open, so the driver opened the door at every stop. At least they had a cooler with free water bottles.

Once we arrived, 1 hr wait for tables. After 30 min, we checked and were told we were 10th in line. 15 min later, we were 11th in line. WTF. Also, people seated in those 45 min had not yet even gotten water. We had to leave without eating, because our friends had to get back for a concert at the Linc.

The Crab Taxi was (according to the people in line) running every 30-45 min and we were pretty far back in line. So we paid $25 (Uber) for the privilege of not eating or drinking anything.

Later we learned C&P takes reservations via Open Table. Not sure if they do for events, or how to time it, but that could be an option. Doesn't help get food or drink once there ...

Driving there isn't an option. Decent parking lot, but shared with other businesses. And then you'd have to pay again to park at the stadium. (Phillies parking was $25; Pink parking was $35.) It's about a 20-25 min walk from the stadium complex, assuming decent weather.

As an alternative suggestion, I would propose what we did for the Phillies game on Wednesday for my father's 86th birthday.

Drive to Chickie and Pete's BEFORE the game. Arrived with my son and met my daughter who was driving my parents at 5:15. Got a table with no wait time and had dinner and a beer and made the game by start time (6:40 pm). Left one car in the C&Ps parking lot and saved $25.

After the game headed over with zero issues getting out of the parking lot despite staying until the end and a sell out because we were going against traffic. Picked up the 2nd car at Chickie's and avoided the traffic jamb on Packer by heading up Broad to Oregon.

Perfection.

Good idea in general.

Would've been risky on Sunday, to be in our seats for the pre-game Phillies Alumni ceremony. But something to keep in mind for the future.

Between sessions at NCAAs? I can't recommend.

Also: awesome that your dad made it to 86 and is still up for going to games.

C&P's is crowded on game days but usually not that bad, but Sunday there was a Phillies game and the Pink concert, so both stadiums were full. At NCAAs, it'll be just the Wells Fargo Center and neither stadium. That's like 100,000 fewer people in the sports complex. It won't be that bad at all.

Edit: I'm not a huge fan of C&P's, just saying, trying to go on a day where both stadiums are sell outs is a bad idea.

Skip this place. C&P is hype. Just up the street is the Philadium. All time classic Philly bar/restaurant. The Philadium
Get the roast pork. You will not be sorry.
