Kasper 15-7 MD over Walz

That Kasper cat is probably my favorite non-PSU wrestler, this season. A real wild card/throwback. It isn't very often that someone that isn't very "on the radar" has a season like this, in this day and age of college wrestling.

And he scores points in bunches with a reckless style.

Ha, I was only half-serious (in a prior thread earlier in the week) about us needing to be Duke Blueberry fans today, but perhaps we see something like this on Tuesday:

#1 - Snyder
#2 - Medberry
#3 - Nevills
#4 - Kasper
#5 - Walz
#6 - Schaffer

Or does Kasper leap-frog to #3, with Walz #4, thereby pushing Nevills down to #5. That would be a backfire...

To throw out a hypothetical -- yes, this is a lot of moving parts:
- Kasper wins out the rest of the regular season, including over Walz in the ACC final.
- Nevills wins out until the B10 finals to Snyder. Snyder skips the dual; Nick beats Black and Schafer in duals, then Medbery in the B10 semis.

Then I could see the seeds being 1 Snyder, 2-3 Kasper and Nevills (in either order), 4-5 Medbery and Walz, 6-7 Schafer and Sasquatch.

That's pretty much the dream scenario for Nick this year ... well, short of Snyder skipping B10s and nationals.

Yeah, the hypotheticals make my head spin. How about this:

Walz avenges his loss to Kasper @ ACC Championships (both guys win out up to that match). Nevills wins out to B1G semis, as does Medbery. Nevills has to win that match to get #2 seed at Nationals. But, if he loses to Medbery, and again it is very close, is that enough to get him the #3 seed? Without any matches between the B1G top-3 and the ACC top-2, how does it shake out if Nevills only losses are to Medbery, and they are razor-thin losses?

As I was leaving Grace Hall on Friday, Walz went by me. I was shocked at how short he was - maybe 5'9"? He's probably 6" shorter than Kasper, which may have created some issues.

No. He would've lost 2x to Medbery, and the seeding committee will almost certainly rank the ACC champ over the B10 3rd if they otherwise have similar records (Walz would then have 2 losses -- OT to Medbery, and today's loss to Kasper which he would've avenged).

Guess I was hoping the best of the B1G would carry more weight (bad pun) than the best of the ACC, records being similar & no obvious tiebreakers. Of course, Nevills beating Medbery would go a long way toward making things clearer.

Not a good weekend for VT's big names - Dance and Epperly fall to Lehigh and Waltz loses to Kasper. In addition, David McFadden lost to Dylan Cottrell of WVU at the Appalachian State Open

Kasper has a loss to the Wisky backup so for now Nick should be 3.

WIN Magazine appears to be the 1st to issue their rankings, and at 285 they went as follows (last week in parenthesis):

1. Snyder (1)
2. Medberry (2)
3. Kasper (5)
4. Walz (3)
5. Nevills (4)

Kasper has both length and movement. He also seems to have a grasp on what will and won't work against heavier guys. Really fun to watch. Might be my favorite 285 to watch this season.

If InterMat does the same tomorrow, I'm going to feel like a jerk.

it remains to be seen what InterMat does. FloWrestling has posted their rankings for 285 and they mirror WIN's, and last week's Flo rankings at 285 were the same as were last week's WIN rankings as well.
