Kemerer 6th year

I know this sounds like I'm spoiled (I am), and I know we can't get them all, but Iowa had 5 Pennsylvania wrestlers in their starting lineup and was the best wrestling team in the nation this year. Penn State had Vincenzo Joseph -- most of the rest were from elsewhere, I think. Hall is from Minnesota, Lee is from Indiana, Nevills is from California, Shak is from NY....why aren't we getting the Pennsylvania studs?
Without multiple injuries Penn State wins the dual, probably the Big10s and most definitely the NCAA.
However, you are probably correct. We haven't needed Frank Molinaro, David Taylor, Matt Brown, Morgan MacIntosh, Bo Nickal, Nick Nevills or Anthony Cassar.

A very long comment. I couldn't fall back to sleep after dog wanted out.:(
I've been down this road before and have been consistent that over the last 5 years I have wished Penn State has landed a few more Pennsylvania/New Jersey kids. It's not just about doing a stat sheet on proving what guys were better performers but just an overall idea of trying to get homegrown talent.
I had hoped that Cael would of recruited Sasso, but he didn't. I know the off the mat concerns that maybe influenced the decision, but I'm not wrong for wishing that he would of been recruited. Our fan base will argue that Sasso was not our type of wrestler with a his conservative approach. I believe that reflects more on Iowa's coaching.
I do think some kids recruit themselves by wanting to go to Penn State, but some kids still like the idea of being reached out to when they are young and like the idea feeling wanted. Right now Oklahoma State is after Crookham big time. Lehigh is also going to try to intice the local kid. Any Penn State fan should want him in the lineup. If he goes to Lehigh, I have no issues with that. But if he ends up at Ok. St or Ohio St. I would be disappointed.
The failure to get Lee still hurts but is understood because of the ability of Iowa to offer Lee's father a career opportunity.
I was not terribly disappointed that Marsteller chose to go to Ok.St. I thought he relied on brute strength and upper body technique for his dominance in high school. Excluding Bo, that doesn't always play out in college. I use the Eckloff boys from Northampton as a classic example of throw guys being not as successful in college.
The one Pennsylvania recruit that I still scratch my head on was Teasdale. It was known behind the scenes by high school coaches the kid was having some off mat issues with weight cut and/or other issues. By Penn State recruitment of him, it hurts the argument that Penn State only wants a certain type of kid.
I've enjoyed Penn State success immensely, but find no issues with some of us fans that wish our lineup would have a little more local talent. With that said, I do think the landscape of high school talent is changing. I don't think Pennsylvania top talent and overall depth is what it use to be. Just check the Intermat high school national rankings currently and compare it from 5+ years ago. Not nearly the same Pennsylvania dominance.
Let's just hope we get to watch college sports starting this fall.

Ditto that. Lee's father left a job at Carnegie Mellon and took the same type of job at Coe College, who no one outside of Iowa has probably heard of. Hardly a career move.
Never meant it was a career uptick for his father. But it did create an opportunity for the family to be closer to their son college career. Not to many recruits families are given that type of opportunity.
