Kevin Willard to Nova

Big time hire for Nova and a sloppy separation for Willard at UMD. It brought lots of unwanted attention to the football program and how unsuccessful Locks has been with all of the money he’s been given.

Yep, it was a poopshow this past week. He's a slime ball like Bruce Pearl, Will Wade etc. but thats what it is right now in D1 coaching. Let's see who UMD hires but for right now it seems like it will be a rough year for them next year.

The part about Locks is so true, hes a terrible coach, I hope they give him an extension :)

I knew how bad he was going to be on day 1 as he sent a text out to numerous black MD HS head football coaches basically telling them that now that a black guy was the head coach at UMD they should be sending all good players to him and if they didnt, they were uncle Toms. At his first get together with some of those coaches one of the coaches asked him about guys like JF and LJ Sr coming to recruit their kids and he trashed JF and LJSr as well as the HS coaches who wanted to know why they shouldn't let their kids talk to other teams. Locks basically has played the entitled little kid idea his whole time at UMD.

Wow. If that was his philosophy it seems to maybe be starting to work with some of his recent 5 star hits.

If Terps kept even 35% of in state 4 stars they'd be formidable- at least on paper. The campus setting and subway line to DC should attract athletes from all over...but hasn't taken hold (sort of the opposite of our Cow College location issue).

Even if you've got the horses, you then have to win games- as we have found out all too much. This year we should be able to compete with the best in the nation. If we don't, it will likely fall on JF. Locksley is in the same boat, without the talent nor success.

As a quasi Nova hoops fan I'm not pleased with how this whole thing went down- and will have a hard time warming to Willard because of it. While no rules were broken- there are ethical considerations which were not handled in a manner befitting an institution which promotes Augustinian Values.

In college sports today it is all $$$$$$$

In college basketball right now the old saying, "If you ain't Cheating.....you ain't trying" Seems to be the truth.

Outside of a couple of blue bloods who really do not seem to have to stoop as low as others, the rest of the winning programs have coaches that seem pretty sketchy ethically. The Pitinos, Calipari, Williard, Sampson definitely make you feel icky watching their programs.........

Ultimately it's about winning. Those guys win.
