Can't wait to see our guys compete again!! The most interesting thing here will be the Berge/Verk and Cassar/Nevills matchups.

We can't lose as fans as all these kids are great..that being said..who you got?

I'm going..
Cassar over Nevills
Berge over Verk

Any other good guys from other teams that could give our guys some good competition?

Roar? Tom? Any other insider have any info when we may see Gavin/Teske compete?

Are we sure that Berge and Nevills will be ready to go this weekend? I know that everyone is optimistic about that, but things tend to lean to the cautious side this early. Would not shock me if it at least one of the two didn't happen. No inside info, just going by past experience.

Could have sworn Cael mentioned they both going at Keystone

I do believe that Keystone is not a true OPEN--I do not think that RS can compete.

Not sure what you're asking for.

There's 8 true freshmen, of the 37 on the roster, that are not eligible to wrestle, leaving 29. Coach mentioned at least 15 going, and possibly more. I suspect we'll see everyone that's healthy enough to go from among the starters and first level of back-ups.

As far as what's happening in the room, I prefer to wait and see what's done under brighter lights, and the Classic will provide a data-point or two for the coaches.

Asking if you've heard of any other tournaments Gavin/Teske may be entering this weekend since they can't compete at Keystone

Not seeing a lot of Open competition this coming week. The Wolfpack Open will probably offer the best competition, but I'm not sure you're gonna get a bunch of guys willing to make a 7-8 hour drive in potentially freezing weather. I don't recall ever seeing a PSU wrestler at the Wolfpack Open. Lindenwood is even further away

Eastern Michigan Open is no longer a thing :(

Might not be until the Cleveland State Open that we see any of those guys.

Sorry...my bad. When you said insider info...thought you meant in the room, such as a wrestle-off, just in case.

Coach Cunningham mentioned yesterday that Berge (not "Bergie") made weight. I believe the weigh-in was last week. Still adjusting, after the freestyle season...just have to wait and see how the coaches handle the situation.

A school friend of mine’s son was so tired of announcers mispronouncing his name (Paden) that he actually had his name intentionally missplelled on his uniform (Pay-den). Never again was it mispronounced. Thanks for spellcheck, but unnecessary with me.

Just like me! When a kid born into a wrestling family (or to a parent trying to live his past vicariously through his poor son) names him Gable, I always ask if it is pronounced "Goblee?" "Gahbell?" "Gabble?" "Gabelee?"

Me being one who lives to purely amuse myself, or course, I love the reactions when they already know that I'm a wrestling fan. :D

Well, if there's little wrestling action in PA this weekend head over to Pittsburgh, or as Brent Musburger calls it, "Picksburgh," and watch those pesky UNI Panthers put the spank on the University of Pittsburgh!

I bought a Pitt season ticket this year. They call the, “flex” tickets. Seven home meets, use the seven tickets anyway you want. WTF? So I could take six friends with me to one match. Must be a pitiful crowd to not worry about having enough seats. OK St on the schedule but I’m out of town for that one. Probably go to UNI just to see the “experience”.

Jay Schwarm (125) and Funkmaster Flex Lujan are worth the ticket alone.

We all know about Lujan, but Schwarm is a pinning machine, so if he doesn't lose, he'll win by pin.

Yes, If they are not red-shirting, that is how i understand it. But both are true Freshman so I doubt either will burn a shirt for this.

Y'all can (and will :) ) correct me if I misread the threads. My eyes are full of Hula Hips (not a typo)

Scuffle DOES allow redshirts..I would assume we see both of these guys at that tourney. If you remember, Mark Hall wrestled here while on redshirt, as well as many of our guys (Bo, Nolf, etc)

Yep. Mark Hall's father was in his corner. He wrestled unattached.

Unless they’ve changed things I believe a wrestler can enter the Scuffle on his own dime. I’m pretty sure Verk was there last year wrestling unattached. Unless I’m confusing my tournaments I seem to remember several unattached wrestlers there. Someone correct me if I’m misremembering.

Edit: I just went back to check and Verk definitely wrestled at 149. He was incorrectly listed as Penn State but I remember he did not wear a psu singlet.

Correct. Nolf lost to James Green in the finals his redshirt freshmen year.

Actually I think Bo lost to Brown at the NLO that year. Bo got hurt at the Scuffle that year and had to Mfft out.
NLO Finals, Matt won 10-7 in Bo's RS year.

And re. the Scuffle (it's a bit early, and I suspect this will be repeated).
-- A team can bring as many wrestlers as they want, but there is a total wrestler limit (if it's the same as the past) for the tournament.
-- Tournament format, identical to B1G's and NCAA's, scoring-wise.
-- A team can name their "point scorers", up to 15. Can't be redshirts. The highest point scorer for a team at each weight becomes the TEAM point scorer.

...is there a PSU section at the Keystone?...
... I just decided to make the trip...

Just imagine the whining from Tan Tom if Pitt had a home dual against tOSU, and all the Pitt fans took up all the seats, leaving none for the tOSU fans. There'd be no living with him ;)

Isn't that the tourney where Mark forgot his singlet?

awesome! I look forward to seeing you there!

there wasn't a PSU section two years ago -- PSU fans were spread all over the place. Roar, NoVa and I were located midcourt (so to speak), down pretty low. That's where I expect to be this year as well. I couldn't attend last year, so I hope Roar and NoVa will pipe in to indicate where they sat last year.

I’m with you Roar. I used to think there was a rule limiting the overall number of wrestlers and then App State showed up with like 22 wrestlers a couple of years ago and I assumed the rule disappeared.

Yep. Nick Lee was also there unattached last year. His shirt didn’t get pulled until January.
