Khalil Mack was a 2 star...

The most dominate individual defensive performance in a half of football I have ever seen. I'm 35 years old, didn't see a ton of L.T. or some other old greats. But this guy has a sack or two, probably 10 hurries, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, interception, and a touchdown.

Wouldnt go that far and I am older but with very little practice and no preseason? Very impressive and Bears stand a good chance to be most improved team this year. Signing Allen Robinson will help a lot too!

I didn’t see Mack, but in addition th LT, I’d add Reggie White to the list of most disruptive D player. Also Deon Sanders was very dominant from a defensive back position. Other than running the ball at him, he pretty much made one receiver obsolete.

Ran across an interesting youtube vid about the top 10 high school recruits of 2007. All of them except one fizzled out. That was Eric Berry. A couple of them I never heard of.

Back in the day when Athlon's was actually good I would pick it up and enjoyed reading it.
In the back they would have a page of top 100 recruits and where they signed.
It was always interesting to go back over them and look at what happened to them.

Shane Conlan was also only a 2* and was only something like around 180 pounds as a high school senior. But he physically got a lot bigger in college.

Always plenty of diamonds in the rough, why I never mind taking some lower rated players. But if you try to build an entire team of nothing but diamonds in the rough, well then you end up Pitt.

he is one of many examples...but to go from lightly recruited to best LB in football is crazy impressive!
It’s also exceedingly rare when you look at the number of 2-Star players in the country each year. Somebody out there will win the next Powerball Jackpot, but you can’t plan an investment strategy around that.

Collingsworth said give him the Defense MVP right now in the first half. Then he was so gassed he sat out most of the 3rd quarter still recovering from no training camp I guess. Also, I dont recall him making a tackle of qb pressure the entire 2nd half. I think you need to play light out more than a half of football before they start handing out awards.

Hey, he trucked it the length of the field on Cobb's TD and almost caught him.

The best defensive player I've ever seen was Mean Joe Green in his first five or so years. I recall, in his rookie year, the Steelers losing a close game to the Giants and he threw his helmet at the cross bar and is smashed into pieces.

Jack Lambert was the most intimidating.

LT was up there. Troy Palamauzluusllsuuslu was damn good for a couple of years at S.
