Kirby Smart critical of his quarterback post game interview.

...and you represent the Fanboy fantasy that flipping coaches every 3 years till you find one that instantly makes a team elite is a rational long-range plan. How many programs out there do you claim to be elite?
Every 3 years? Franklin has been here way longer than 3 years. The reality is we're competing with Ohio State Michigan and soon USC. It's justifiable for fans to realistic believe Franklin isn't good enough to consistently beat them. If we play all 3 you have to beat 1 yearly. Have to. If not you try a new coach.

Factual statistics do not make one a “fanboy” (an obnoxious term, by the way). Fact: Coach Franklin is 4-14 vs OSU and UM. Fact, another blue-blood is being added to this cesspool of a conference in USC.

It doesn’t take Scotland Yard to draw the conclusion that PSU under Franklin has been sub par in big games, and now there will be one more of them every season or so. One can next deduce the obvious: PSU has to do better vs elite conference competition under Franklin, or Franklin will be replaced.

I have no problem with what Smart said. Coaches are masters of psychology and know their players far better than we do. My guess is that Bennett was improvising a bit too much. Maybe he made mistakes earlier in the game that necessitated a big comeback. Maybe Bennett has been reading all his press clippings and needed to brought to earth.

If you saw the whole interview, Smart was pretty calm until that came up. He became pretty serious so there has to be some issue there that we don’t know. Perhaps he will explain his comments this week but I doubt he will show his dirty laundry in public. Maybe after the title game. But he is in his second consecutive title game…..he knows what he is doing.

You could be right, but I still find it a little strange minutes after the guy played one of the best quarters of football in the history of the playoffs.

At the end of the day, it's not a big deal. Georgia is going to beat TCU anyway, and Smart's comment will be forgotten long before that even happens.

Agreed. The guy didn't play a perfect game -- perfection is hard to come by...especially against a team with Ohio State's caliber of athletes -- but he did play a perfect 4th quarter: 12-14, 207 yards, three scoring drives to include the game-winner.

I don't know what was going through Kirby's head, but he may have, uh, outsmarted himself with that comment. Then again, Georgia's a 2-TD favorite over TCU, so his gratuitous swipe at the greatest QB in Bulldog history and most important player on the team probably doesn't matter.
Praise in public, criticize in private

It will be forgotten if Georgia wins.

This mentality is how we become the 4th best team in our conference when USC joins. It's like people are scared of success because it will diminish Joe's accomplishments.
Even if you were WE "our" mentality has absolutely nothing to do with game results. How stupid can you be?
Okay, I'm signing off. "WE" need to get mentally prepared for the game.

Because if the fan base continues to pack the stadium to watch mediocre football often against teams we shouldn't be playing there's no incentive for the powers that be to make the necessary move. Again see Georgia with Richt.

PSU has 90,000 + season ticket holders. Posters here are less farts in the wind.

I've enjoyed 10 wins and I hope for the same next year.
I know you wouldn't want more than 10
I'm sorry but the fact you think it's childish to comprehend this is a sport not about being "a nice guy" that's on you
You legit said you'd rather have Franklin as the HC instead of Smart then said it was the end of discussion because you know I'm right about why

The fact that you do not think we are doing things the right way and it is irrelevant proves you are not a PSU fan.
It doesn't. Being a Penn State doesn't require one to act holier than thou or believe the false narrative Paterno pushed to lower expectations. It just doesn't. It's time to adapt to football in 2022. We aren't all going to live in 1986.

You telling me what sport is about? Comedy gold.

Don’t speak for me. That’s not what I think at all.
