Was in Taiwan almost exactly a year ago. The company I just left had a factory there. It is definitely 2nd world. Some relatively nice parts, but a lot of tenement style buildings with nothing more than roofing made of corrugated metal. It wouldn't take much for many many people to be put in a very bad way. Hope for the best!

We experienced an 8.2 earthquake on Guam while stationed there in the early 90s. They had lots of tremors while we were there, but only the one very large earthquake.
