If the guys came up with it on their own and are having a little fun, who am I to be a wet blanket? Just make your blocks, hold on to the rock, and hit the hole hard and fast. Beyond that, knock yourself out.
Part of me really wants to agree with you, but when it looks like PSU is trying to mimic ThugU in any way, it grates at this old JoePa acolyte.

It looks stupid as hell but so does the guy I work with who pins his pants up to mid-calf level. What can you do?

If JoePa would allow it, so would I, and if JoePa wouldn't allow it, neither would I.

I think that while Joe would not have allowed it while he was coach, he would have been ok with it with any new coach and the current athletes. He would not have been a fan of it, but he would say 'it's their team' and, perhaps grudgingly, would have just gone with the flow. He would be far more concerned with Success With Honor, and we still emphasize that.

Imo, bringing Joe into this is unfair to him, his family, his legacy, and most certainly to the current team and coaches. We want our PSU athletes to understand why JVP was such a great coach and leader, not dwell on some distraction over how strict he was wrt 'flash' because he grew up in their grandparents' era.

Edit: Great-grandparents' era!

Great post. Stuff like this just exposes that we still have a segment of the fanbase that believes that only their era matters and that every era going forward must conform to their beliefs and standards. I’m 40, grew up watching PSU and Joe and all the admiration etc. but that era is over and people will never accept it. The current student body, players and coaches, this is their time

Love the Lawn Boyz chain. Great to see there’s good chemistry between the 4 RBs and they have something fun to bond over. My honest opinion is that all 4 will not finish their college career at PSU, but hopefully things like this can keep them together and satisfied.

The gold chains around the neck or the ill effects of climate change around the world? It’s a tough one for me to settle. LOL

Joe's legacy centers around Success With Honor and all that implies with student-athletes, post-playing days careers and families, etc. I have no doubt that he would adapt, just as he adapted throughout his coaching career.

Most of the 'old-time' values don't change substantially, if at all, and that transcends fads and trends and whatever current cool stuff. Like football itself - offenses change, rules change, etc., but success still comes back to blocking and tackling and preparation and execution.... the 'old-time' values of the sport.

While I’m not a big fan of it, I find the stupid patches on the uniform much more annoying (the 150 - especially as the ncaa will try and ignore Joe, the big ten logo - enough said, the lion logo is unnecessary, the Nike swoosh is alright I guess).

Three response choices: Hate, Love, Neutral.

I hate it because it channels ThugU. That being said, it isn't the call of old timers to make!

They're just kids, with technology that records everything they say and do. They wanna be lawn boys let them be LawnBoyz.

Down in front!

Voted hate it (a bit embarrassing actually to me), but indifferent as to the kids having fun with it. Guess I’m officially a member of the off my lawn crowd... just don’t get it

If you don't get it it's because you're not the target market. The target market is other running backs in high school and college. It's about showing them what a great experience it is to be part of Jajuan Seider's running back program at Penn State.

I don't like it (just because I think it's dumb).

But fortunately it's not for me. It's harmless, so I say let them enjoy it.

As of this writing, a staggering 33.9 percent say "hate it." That would be 1 out of every 3 Penn State fans! Thank goodness this message board community is not reflective of the fanbase as a whole....

The average age around here is 68. That might have something to do with it.

So if the average age is 68, and 2/3 of those folks think it's ok or are neutral about it, sounds like we have a very open-minded bunch of fartes d'olde! I like to think I'm one whether it is about some fad such as this or about important things. I voted neutral, btw.

Seems silly to me, but so does walking around in torn up jeans. At 54 I feel out of the loop on today's cool stuff lol
