Michael Jordan had already won a national title at UNC, but wanted to come back for his senior year. Although Jordan was a freshman and hit the game winning shot, I don’t think at the time he was the best player on UNC. Jordan being Jordan wanted another championship.
According to Jordan as he stated in the Last Dance doc series Dean Smith told him to go pro because that’s what was best for Jordan. Not the best for Coach Smith and UNC.
I’m happy to hear that Franklin supports Parsons decision to sit out and go pro. Obviously the pandemic and unprecedented season played into Parsons decision, but at least FrAnklin’s support shows he is coach looking out for his players well being. A players coach and one a high school recruit would want to play for.
