Lehigh vs. Pittsburgh

...a walk in the park for Lehigh ...

... they have a top 10 team this year...

...so I'm told...

No announcers, no names or score displayed on the screen. Why bother, ESPN?

Wisconsin-Duke broadcast is excellent. Former Duke wrestler doing a great job on the call, great camera and scoreboard. Biggest negative is no ride time but announcers doing a good job updating.

...it was 28-8...more like a casual stroll in the park...

I only caught a few matches but it certainly looked like there wasn't a lot of 'energy' in the gym. Shame...
How do they only get 900 out for a match? I understand down a bit this year, but cmon...alot of local kids on the team

It would appear Peters has lost his team. I remember the 2008-2009 season when Sunderland lost Penn State.

On paper it was bad enough. Losing to a Michigan team which you had defeated a month before and by a 31-6 score? The worst personally was making the 4 hour drive to Rec Hall for the Wisconsin match and see an entire team make zero effort. I feel badly for Pitt fans (if any are left).

I feel the fan perspective parallels are similar but I don't know if the team dynamics are similar.

If this was sPitt bball or football I wouldn't give a @$!# but I do when it comes to this sport.

Peters sold hope (championship rings and banners) and change (facility upgrades coming and Admin support). But its a collective fail from Admin down to team.

Shame. Cause they could be special.

For every Campbell who does look good, there are a Wiercioch and a Rizzo who were last seen on the side of a milk carton, and a Racciato who might wish he were.

I'm not a Pitt fan (though I don't hate their wrestling team). Just made an observation that Campbell looked good.

I don't know man...its mind boggling that Pitt cannot become an elite program while sitting smack dab in the middle of the WPIAL...PSU & tOSU are top programs and relatively close but c'mon...Pitt should at a minimum get the talent to beat the likes of Edinboro, Lehigh etc. Maybe it's a lack of development of talent. I don't know but it's very frustrating for most from that area I can assure you.

If they put forth the effort, Pitt could attract a high quality head coach. The administration just does't seem to care all that much about wrestling.

I agree, not sure who would be a good candidate with local ties that could get the job done. I think Cunningham would be a good choice for the job (not that he has local ties) but he doesn't seem interested in a HC gig...

Pitt is where good quality high school wrestlers go to become mediocre. It's mind boggling how they can't develop talent. With the right coach they could consistently put out a solid team.

My oldest daughter just got accepted into Pitt and seemed pretty excited about it  Penn State's acceptance notifications won't come out until January; hopefully in the end she makes the mature, intelligent decision. :D
You owe your daughter a detox trip to the Creamery.

Pitt doesn't even have an RTC.

I'm not sure how much local ties would matter. Cael had none here. Rosselli had none in Oklahoma. Pop had none in NC ... best man for the job.

If I were Pitt, I'd be watching Scott Moore closely. Or, they could wait a few years and see how alum Keith Gavin does as Rosselli's asst at OU. Or see how Kolat resuscitates Campbell. Or, thinking outside the box, see if Sunny Abe wanted to move into college coaching.

But they're Pitt, so ...

I know what you mean in saying that Casey "doesn't seem interested in a HC" position. But I would put it more that he prefers what he has here. In a pre-season interview Cael referred to the tightness of, and the complementary way the coaching staff works together. Even though Cael is head coach, they are really more of a team coaching. They are very much in synch in philosophy. I think Casey knows he has a really good thing going thing going at PSU.

He doesn't want to lose that #winning feeling

Not sticking up for this crowd (I've been a season ticker holder since 2013 because its been in my backyard), but it was light up night in Pittsburgh on Friday. It's considered the absolute worst traffic nights of the year. My wife and I decided now to go into the city for this exact reason. Also, who on the team gets you excited? They might not have an AA this year.

Most impressive Panthers seen in the Palestra on Sunday, in order:
1. Dom Forys. Cortez had trouble w/Kevin Devoy's length, but Forys didnt. I know I'm vulnerable to overstating size observations when I first get back to seeing these studs live, but Forys was as tall as Devoy, appeared stronger, and was more physical on top.

2. Jake Wentzel, 157
Yes, he still got teched by Nolf, but I thought he fought the hardest. Stayed alive during nearly a minute in a tigghhht headlock, and came back physical in each period afterward. Really impressive toughness.

3. Te-shan Campbell, 165
Joseph is better, and he showed it in the final, but Campbell's got a good base. Would be interesting to see how long it would take our coaching staff to wash the Pitt off of him if he came to Lorenzo.

I seem to recall there was a former PSU standout in the area coaching, if I was looking for someone to coach I would probably give sonny abe a call. That is someone I would want to wrestle for, don't know any details but just based on area and resume someone I would think could get the program up and running

Pretty sure Sunny Abe is coaching at North Allegheny still. Not sure if he has any interest in a college coaching job or not.
