We scored 31 points yesterday vs a defense that used press coverage on our receivers and stacked the box to stop our running game. It took us a quarter to make the adjustments to attack this....MD. had not shown this in any game, with any regularity, before and we took advantage of their coverage gambles. 3TD pass completions and a few long receptions in critical situations. Now if you are an opposing DC what are you going to do defensively to stop us.....stack the box and man up aka MD or play a more conventional defense that could open up our running game.
Yesterday could have been a blessing in disguise....it could put the remaining opponents defenses in a bind as to what they want to defend. As has been said on here many, many times, the OL is a liability and whatever we can do to keep defenses on their heels is going to help us in the long run. Yesterday may have opened the door for us to just that.
