For the past 3 years or so we have been hearing that the Offensive line is young. After 4 years of trying to develop a BIG worthy Offensive line, Limegrover has failed miserably. We have one of the weakest lines in the BIG Conference. McSorley does not have time for the long ball, they do not hold blocks and they cannot open holes.....especially in the 4th quarter when we need to hold the lead. I believe the Defense is adequate and Rahne is not Moorhead, but the weak link to our team and this season has been Limegrover. A few open holes and first downs for the running game during the 4min offense is the difference this year that would have kept us in the hunt for a playoff birth.
I am worried today about our Offensive line against Michigan because of Limegrovers inept ability to coach and develop an Offensive line. BTW he got a promotion after last season! LOL

The offensive line has actually been a strength, so I’m not sure what you’re seeing. The real problem is the wide receivers. How many times have we seen McSorley with enough time to get the ball off, hit the receivers in the hands, and they drop it?? That’s what needs fixed. Could the offensive line be better? Sure, but it’s within the top 4 or offensive lines in the big ten.

I don't think I would call it a strength... But it certainly has not been a glaring weakness like it has been in years past... But for it to be a strength I would ask you to look at our two losses in the big moments when we needed to be able to run the ball to end the game and protect the quarterback and we couldn't do it... For something to be a strength I believe you need to come through against the better football teams on your schedule

Yeah i dont think the Oline has been a weak point. Not saying they're a top line but they're certainly improved over the last couple years.

If you think Matt is inept you must feel the same about James, especially if Matt gets a new contract.

I think they're right on target. They are not a dominant OL yet but they are a solid top-half-B1G offensive line. They actually held up decently well against an incredibly talented Iowa DL (probably 6 future NFL players on that unit), and that was critical to PSU winning that game. Michigan DL is great too but might be no better than Iowa.

It takes a long time to build up an OL program. This is the best athletes PSU's had on an OL in a very long time (at least 10-12 years), it's also the best depth. But with the exception of Bates it's not a highly experienced group. Their best football is ahead of them and I see steady improvement in all phases.

I think Limegrover is doing exactly what he was hired to do. If you don't think there's been progress, just think back to 3-4 years ago.

OL is not one of our biggest issues. It’s behind WR play, LB play, tackling, lack of turnovers, and McSorleys accuracy

Every team has dropped balls. we have had some game changing dropped balls. McSorley is constantly rushed and doesn't have time for the deep ball. Pass protection is poor and we can't open holes for a decent run game.

Not highly experienced?? 66 n 74 this is their 3 rd yr starting. This is 71 second yr. only the C is a first year starter. I actually think just the opposite, it's a very experienced group, especially being this late in the season

Well, the OL looks like a steaming pile of dog crap on the first possession — and we’ve managed to waste a timeout already. Good start.

No.... we won’t.

One already knows how the OL has been playing - regardless of what happens against UMich today.

Well, Norman, some on this board think otherwise. So far, you, me, and Rokar are right, they are soft!

When our highly-touted running backs are relied upon to run the ball is the proof we need to believe the OLine is good. Trace is running way too often for a senior about to go to the draft. A good offensive line will help control time of possession; we haven’t been doing that consistently. Three-and-outs are not good.

I heard someone say we are 6th in the country for most drops

Relax. Stormin Norm is in the house to review game film and wave his arms around to strangers in conference room lobbies.

2 dropped balls did not make a huge difference in the first half. The fact that our line can't open holes, give McSorley time to pass or pick up stunts or blitzes has made our offense look pathetic! All the Limegrover Lovers are quiet now!

Minnesota fires him. Let that sink in.

There is no such thing as stealing an assistant coach from Minnesota. There has to be better options out there - you can’t give a guy three years and a bunch of 4/5 star recruits and receive these results. It’s time to move on.

Somewhat off topic - why are some on this board Limegrover apologists? What’s the reasoning? He’s an assistant with no psu connections that has provided zero results.

I honestly don't understand how an OL that ruled vs MI last year looked so pathetic today. How does that happen when virtually the entire OL returned?? Can't blame O'Brian any longer.

cJf had a good OL coach. He let him go elsewhere or he was fired take your pick

Nothing to do with dropped passes, play calling or defense today. The defense held their own but was forced to be on the field way too much and got tired. The O-line blocked for a whopping 33 yards of rushing yards until late in the 4th quarter. Limegrover IS THE PROBLEM!

Either Limegrover has to go or the scheme needs to change. But this team can’t run block when it needs to

Spot on boyer! Most msg board posters know jack about building a good OL.

A scheme change will not open holes or give our quarterback more time to throw the ball. Rahne is not Moorhead, but I do think Moorehead was able to better overcome some of the problems that the line presented. I think Sanders is a great back but he rarely sees a crack. Most of his long runs have been his ability to to evade tackles. I think Limegrover has sucked enough money from our Pennsylvania tax dollars and our kids tuition money and needs to go. (I know the Football team is self supported, but he is still employed by the State)
