I've noticed a trend in the Franklin era that suggests the team plays with a chip on its shoulder when it's not expected to perform well and gets overconfident when it's being hyped as a contender in the media. The latter might reflect some of why it always under-performs after a major loss.

I am more bullish on the season because they have a lot to prove and they have talent all around to surprise other teams.

Based strictly on recruiting talent level, PSU should be the 2nd best team in the Big Ten. With that said, They are thin at Linebacker, and they are thin on the Offensive line.

So yes, barring injures to either area, they SHOULD play with a chip on their shoulder. IMO, anything less than 10-2 is a disappointment this year. Based on recruiting talent alone 11 -1 should be the target.

Important year for Yurcich, Trautwein, and Howle IMO. The OLine and Tight ends need to produce this year. Considering there is a new AD, Franklin's future could depend on it.

Technically our team talent is rated and has been 3rd behind Michigan. But it's close and point taken.
