This is a MUST SWEEP weekend against the big u of W. We are 5th in the B10 and 19th in the rankings. We’re playing the last place Badgers and the 4 teams in front of us in the B10 standings are playing each other. Must wins for B10 tourney purposes and to keep our NCAA tourney hopes alive. Can’t slip up. LET’S GO STATE!!!

Incredibly fast and furious first 10 minutes that saw the Lions hit 2 posts that were both reviewed after the fact. Alas, the initial burst appears to be over and it’s 0-0 with 9:44 left to go in the first. Need to strike first after that opening flurry.
Well that was prophetic - Alex Limoges steals the puck and feeds Brandon Biro alone in the crease who buries it for the 1-0 PSU lead 10 and a half into the first.
DENNIS SMIRNOV the Russian buries a deep rebound for the 2-0 lead with 7 minutes to go in the first. We are flying around the ice , definitely ate our Wheaties.
Wisconsin cuts it to 2-1 on

Wisconsin ties it on a weak goal. Peyton could have stopped that one- gave up way too much short side and the guy whipped it straight through. Ugh.. 2-2 next with less than 8 minutes left in the second.
Smirnov gets the lead back with his second of the night on a deflection. 3-2 PSU now with just over 5 minutes to go in the second. Needed that one.

I believe they said it was a lower body injury. He was featured between periods on a tv interview and it didn’t appear from his demeanor that it was anything serious.
Not sure but he simply has not looked right ever since he got back from the world juniors. Losing him and Talvitie has really kept us from reaching our full potential. Maybe the difference between in or out of the NCAA tourney.
I think that Barratt took a hit during the 1st period of last Friday's game at MSU and didn't play the rest of the weekend.
I was at the game. Our boys were two steps faster all night. And going top shelf on that goalie is like taking candy from a baby. He drops down for every shot. We should sweep the Badgers.
That has been our problem, not sweeping when we should. Better team than Wisky and MSU yet team has 3 losses to them this season.
Standings still pretty much up in the air through Friday night. Ohio State lost last night to Michigan, but they almost assuredly will pick up the last win that they need during their next three. Minnesota lost to Notre Dame and only has one conference game left tonight (but, they also play prior PSU opponent ASU, who is pretty much a lock for the tourney given their Pairwise ranking... not sure if a sweep by Minnesota is good or bad for PSU!). Obviously, we want PSU to complete the sweep of Wisconsin this evening. A sweep at Notre Dame is the best outcome, of course, heading into the B1G Tourney; but, a split could still see the Lions with home ice depending upon what happens elsewhere around the conference. Ohio State and Minnesota wins tonight wouldn't hurt, either!
