Are there any around here? TheOpenMat is looking for a Penn State voice to do a partisan piece prior to the NCAA tournament telling us why Penn State will do well, having some fun, and generally looking at the world through blue and white glasses. We did this last year as part of our Fan Zone series and we'd like to do it again for the top five teams in 2018.

Take a look at some examples from last year:
Ohio State: http://news.theopenmat.com/blog/201...state-looks-back-big-10-crown-national-title/
Oklahoma State: http://news.theopenmat.com/blog/2017/03/11/fan-zone-oklahoma-state-closes-title-number-35/
Penn State: http://news.theopenmat.com/blog/2017/03/10/fan-zone-relax-penn-state-fans-team-fine/

Clay did a good job, though he soft-peddled the homerism a bit. If you're interested, please shoot me an email at asteen@theopenmat.com or DM me on Twitter @AlexSteenTOM.

Thanks!

Be careful posting on the openmat, folks. Ironically, given that it formed because of people getting banned, they get their feelings hurt pretty quickly, and they'll make you go away. ;)

If you want homer, go Garrett Carr - Clay’s podcast partner.

Clay, I can handle and think he’s solid; Carr drinks the Cael-aid by the Flagon and will certainly get hits due to his hot “taeks”

I love my wrestling podcasts....but the PSU podcast is hard to listen to. Clay gives some fairly balanced opinions, but Garrett goes off the deep end a little too much for my, um liking.

I hear you man. Nothing wrong with homers - as long as they are in on the joke, but he’s serious about it (even if he feigns joking about it). Also, many of his opinions come from totally out of left field and are cringe-worthy. Here’s a good example:

The thing is being a homer following this team is usually a winning bet - like being a day trader in a hot Bull Market - but it doesn’t mean your analysis is strong. You just pick your guys and they come through.

Completely agree. I'm a little jealous of tOSU fans (The Inside Trip) and Michigan fans (Boodround). Both of those podcasts are more polished than the PSU pod. In fairness, I know for sure Bloodround has been around a lot longer, and I think the Inside Trip is a bit older as well. They both are very open about their homerism, but I still find their pods enjoyable.

I know those guys read this board so some humor/constructive criticism directed at them:

Bloodround is great but too much “foreplay”/inane chatter up front. I’m all for some inane chatter; in fact, I’m an expert at it, but they need to get to the good stuff sooner. The intro song reminds me of David Silver of Beverly Hills 90210 rapping for the first time at the Peach Pit (I’m dating myself)

Inside Trip guys are hilarious and some good analysis by Ben. Better intro song. Bloodround has better swag though. Wish both pods were indexed like FRL

Love Tommy and Ben on TRow and Funky. Great analysis. Funniest thing is how 2 complete badasses both have the laughs of 7 year old girls

I used to like you Chickenman but you've lost all credibility if you think the Inside Trip intro song is better than Bloodround's.
It’s a little Techno which isn’t my bag, but the Bloodround’s beat just reminds me too much of David Silver. I can’t shake it
