The Nazi/Hitler/conspiracy theory crap that Teabaggers are posting here today is sad in one sense, but it also gives me real hope for the 2018 election cycle.
Trump is recasting the GOP to follow his and Bannon's nativist, xenophobic, and American exceptionalist viewpoint, and talking/tweeting in a way that polarizes, coarsens, and divides people. This is particularly the case for the GOP. Moderate Republicans are both abandoning and being kicked out of the GOP. It appears that it will now become the Trump Party.
Meanwhile, Fox News (not the MSM) reports today that Trump's approval rating declined from 42% to 38%. These numbers are at least five percentage points high, but even if you assumed they were right on the money, Republicans cannot win general election races in any but the reddest of states with numbers like that.
I hope Trump and Bannon redouble their efforts. 2018 will be hugely entertaining, with GOP politicians going WAY right in order to win their primaries, and then making Herculean efforts to scuttle back from the far right win as the general election approaches. November 2018 will be very enjoyable for Democrats, but at least the Teabaggers will have the ideological purity they always coveted.
