Lubrano

There is a lot going on. Justice moves slowly. I am kind of getting a kick out of Demlion's (near) silence as he was always about 100% transparency. (but that could be due to personal circumstances as well). the point is, we don't know what is going on so patience is the key.

Not passing judgment, but I'd like to hear from him. Call me selfish.

Anybody else feel this way?

What are you expecting to hear? Not trying to be snarky, but I don't think there is much there there. Could be when demlion gets further into his review, but that's a significant undertaking and the guy does have to spend some time on activities that pay the bills.

I get that nobody owes me, or anybody, anything. But when AL said he could speak more after the 17th, for some reason I thought he would. A lot of weird stuff went down when all of the A9 sided with the Lubert promotion, and for some reason I thought that after the 17th we'd maybe know why.

I hadn't noticed. How about not at all?

I understand where you're coming from.......and I don't know if anyone is more "disconcerted" wrt the A9 than I am.

That said ALub catches a lot of flack because he's the ONLY person who communicates at a level above a Cigar Store Indian.

The rest - - - - - - probably don't have two communications a year from them - UNTIL it gets to within a couple months of their "re-election cycle". Which is really pathetic.

Now, don't get me wrong.....they ALL - A Lub included - deserve flack for some of this stuff (the Lubert 34-0 being one of the most FUBAR ones....though, lately, EVERY month seems to be crammed full of multiple "WTF?" moments)......but I do feel a bit for ALub - - - the guy "doing the most" (even with the FUBARs) catching all the crap that should be being spread around to several folks - and all of whom have earned the crap more than he has.

I know some have lost faith. I have not. I believe he will not be silenced. I hold the position that he has nothing to say and that when he does, he will not hesitate to do so.
FWIW - There is NO WAY IN HELL that he "has nothing to say".

At the very LEAST - he has a LOT to say in explaining recent actions by the entirety of the A9 (or, to be fair, to explain HIS particular actions - which were, for the most part, congruent with the group)
He is CHOOSING not to explain/address that, which might be his best option, since so much of it was simply "unexplainable". FWIW

The mere fact that he was SO involved with posts seemingly daily in the time leading up to the vote with his "hypothetically speaking" one would at least think he would make an attempt to explain both his vote and his silence. As uninvolved alums we get one chance a year to change our representatives. Until then we have to be patient and hopeful.

Perhaps Lubrano posts only when King Ira displays some more great leadership and allows him to do so. (Still no explanation of Anthiny's vote for and then his praise of Lubert after his criticisms and questions about Ira on this board.)

And apparently the remaining A9 have had surgery to remove their tongues and typing fingers.

No worries. This coming spring we'll be hearing from the three A9 members who are up for reelection. They'll say they've been working hard behind the scenes and better news in on the horizon. We all need to be patient, they'll say. However, they'll add they aren't at liberty to give any details. By then it'll have been over five years since the BoT began screwing the entire university. How much patience do they expect us to have? They'll retain their BoT seats then go silent until the next election. To Lubrano's credit, he alone tries to engage the university community at times other than just before an election. All in all though I've given up hope that the A9 will accomplish anything truly meaningful.

The entire BOT has been urged to speak with "one voice." You can draw your own conclusions. I'm pretty sure language will be proposed to add the by-laws on this topic at the November meeting.

That is absolutely no excuse - and is in fact COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY irrelevant wrt every instance of Fiduciary Failure of the A9 over the last 4 years

Other than that though......... :)

He's picking up lunch for Ira and the boys

Yeah. I had to run to the deli to pick up corn beef sandwiches on rye.

I love you folks. I really, really do. Even those of you who bust my stones (SSS). You have every right to demand transparency.

I will not go quietly into the night, you should understand that by now.

Nothing happens as quickly as we'd like. The wheels of justice grind oh so slowly.

Freeh's day of reckoning is coming...

Throw in song lyrics and you are beginning to sound a bit like Frank. ;) Where is Frank?

Hey!!!

I may be fairly characterized as "busting your stones" when the "stones fit"..........but I have also been at the front of the line to give credit where credit is due

And - even when it's not - to at least be clear that at least on a relative scale there are others much more deserving of stone busting

I think so anyway

Truthfully Mr. Lubrano, I've about given up all hope of receiving any justice from the BoT. When you anointed Ira the Chief Godfather pulling the strings behind the scenes that basically sealed our fate. Thank goodness Sue's gang still has a hot iron in the fire because the Paterno family's suit seems to be the ONLY way to get behind the layers of bullshit your cohorts have heaped upon this case. I don't know about the others on this board but I get the distinct impression that slimy bastard has played you like a kid at the jukebox with a pocket filled with quarters. When election time comes again, Ryan Bagwell and others who seem to be actually doing something will receive this vote. Let us all know when Ira removes your muffler; hopefully you won't gag until then.

Thank you Anthony.

We have no choice but to be patient. That being said, I am anxiously awaiting Freeh's day of reckoning and the day that Graham Spanier, Tim Curley, and Gary Schultz are exonerated.

I hope that one day we can realize Joe Paterno's dying wish and know the truth of what exactly happened in this fiasco. I have no deadline.

True, the wheels of justice turn slowly. My concern now is- are those wheels turning (with significant progress being made, not just wishful thinking or partisan bluster) or are the wheels just spinning in the mud?

Question for you... I understand your frustration as we all are including Mr. Lubrano by the pace of justice. Say that Mr. Lubrano and the rest of the alumni vote no on Ira as "chief" as you like to say... Would that have kept Ira from becoming "chief"? You make it sound as if Mr. Lubrano cast the deciding vote. As my great grandmother always told me, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar... I am not defending him just more curious to your thought process...

Not all of us have that luxury. I've already lost my best friend, who'd hoped to see some justice for Joe and PSU, to cancer earlier this year. I know a few others who don't want to wait for the grim reaper to come calling before the Pennsylvania judicial system renders a decision on CSS. personally I'm tired of being referred to as a ped enabler or a cultist or any other of the horrible names I've heard during the past five years. But I'm glad you're patient. Is your name Job by any chance?

Simple...Lubert is the enemy! The player of deceit and dirty tricks. The alumni are supposed to be representing US. I don't want to be associated with the people who railroaded Joe Paterno, hired Louie the liar to fabricate a report or bent over to Emmert. I'd like to go on the offensive and put pressure on these assholes, not sit back and continue to take it up the ass! I'm ****ing pissed-off. They played every nasty card in the deck; I want us to start dealing. Enough's enough!

We're together on this. I'm sure the BoT never considered the extra punishment they heaped on people my age who don't have the luxury of being able to wait 20 years to have their Penn State dignity restored.

My question has been why the need for unanimity? If the A9 wan't needed to make Lubert the chief, there was no need to make it unanimous. It went from being an election to being a coronation.

The alumni haven't been treated all that well by the BOT. When the Sandusky thing went down, it opened our eyes and showed us how the BOT operated. There was a large amount of dissent. It was evident that the only way we would have any voice of dissent on BOT operations was to elect representatives that reflected that. So, we elected the A9. It took us 3 years until we had what we thought was the representation that we wanted on the BOT. We knew we couldn't control the BOT, but we could make our presence felt. The unanimous vote for Lubert silenced that voice.

The BOT promised us transparency. As things unfolded, we found that that was a hollow promise. We had always hoped that the A9 would give us some transparency. Instead, the explanation for the vote came back with that we had to wait. Good things were coming, but they couldn't tell us about it, and that the vote for Lubert was necessary. The A9 has morphed into the BOT. In the process, a lot of trust in the A9 has gone out the window.

So, we're left to do what we have to, and that is to turn off the funding spigots. It may not be much, but individually people aren't reaching as deeply into their pockets. The BOT has pretty well turned their backs on the alumni, and they are reacting accordingly. The only way to get anybody's attention is through money.

My hope is that the A9 will prove me wrong. So far, they have not held up to my meager expectations. When they do, I'll change my opinion. I'm hoping that they don't think a reworking of Beaver stadium is what is going to satisfy the dissent. This isn't about football.

Your great grandmother may have used the vinegar/honey analogy, but we're not catching flies. It's more like being tired of being treated like mushrooms - kept in the dark and fed a bunch of crap.

Freeh's day of reckoning is coming...

Anthony: if I recall, there were a couple of people tasked with reviewing the Freeh source documents who were really not interested and were not embracing the process. And, it was the concern of many, that those individuals would come to a different conclusion than you and yours. Is it fair to ask if the disinterested party(ies) are coming around and getting their eyes opened? Are they starting to shift toward your side? Are they being objective?

What has taken place over the last couple of years:

Is quickly moving the much-ballyhooed "Freeh Review".....which SHOULD HAVE been a seminal event in the battle for better, more righteous governance of PSU.....into an "event" which is much more likely to do more harm to that cause, than good.

Time after time, the A9 has been pushed/pulled/prodded/led/begged and pleaded with.....to do the right things - and to "see the forest for the trees".
And each time they refuse or ignore.....
And each time, events transpire to illustrate their folly......
And still............

To no avail.

There are only so many options:

1 - Too stupid to grasp the obvious? Personally, I hope not...and I don't think so, not as an entire group anyway - - - - though we certainly have a couple of true dunderheads among the group.
2 - Too proud to recognize their folly and make the proper changes? Maybe, could be a part of it
3 - Too conflicted with self-interests? Maybe......certainly in some particular circumstances.
4 - To dysfunctional as a group in their own right? Certainly a reasonable issue. And could very well play a role.
5 - "In on the take"...part of the Scoundrel Cabal, but in sheep's clothing? I don't think so. I certainly have not allowed myself to believe this - - - aside from at least considering the possibility for a few particular individuals, anyway.
6 - Too "close to", and too "loyal to" those who are part of the Cabal? Quite possibly

Anyway.....while it would certainly be helpful to fully understand the "why", in order to be able to improve......the bottom line is that what has been ain't (nearly) good enough.

There may be - and most certainly are - very positive elements that would be beneficial to maintain as we move forward.

But, business as usual (and what we have seen over the last 3-4 years) is a recipe for certain disaster. Without question.
