Making a Murderer: A Wisconsin inmate has reportedly confessed to the murder of Teresa Halbach

I still want to hear how the "real" killer managed to get Teresa's DNA into Avery's backyard firepit.

Ya I don't buy it. The DNA in the firepit is hard to argue. Although I always thought putting her car in your junkyard was a little stupid and obvious.

I've never seen the series devoted to this case. All I know is there was a highly controversial guilty verdict. If the recent confession is legitimate, I'm sure the guy can offer a logical explanation for all questioned evidence.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right answer. Usually 95% of the time.

I always thought the state railroaded these two. Even with this 'confession' I wouldn't look for a quick resolution. The system hates to acknowledge a mistake.
And folks love a good conspiracy.

Not pointing a finger at you. Just recognizing human nature and suspicion. The poster above suggesting knowledge to provide reasonable explanations was right on.

I guess I didn't realize you sat through the entirety of the trial.

I didn't have to. With what I know about the case between watching both seasons of the documentary and sitting in on a symposium given by one of Avery's defense attorneys a couple of weeks ago, there's plenty of reasonable doubt there.

And there was a large amount of misdeeds done by the prosecution...either through incompetence or unethical behavior...I’m not saying I know which one, but they definitely had their fair share of questionable behavior.

Haha, the "documentary" was among the most one-sided pieces I've ever seen. You've essentially listened to 20 hours of the defense case, and think you have a solid grasp on the evidence? Just one example: the filmmakers treat the hole in the top of the blood vials as a huge discovery, almost undoubtedly proving that he was framed. Except those blood vials will always have that hole, its part of the process of how the blood is put in the vial to begin with. But go ahead, keep listening to them.

After watching both seasons and reading a lot about the case, I am pretty confident that Steven Avery is guilty so it would be a complete shock if it turns out some serial killer did it and set it up to frame Steven.

That said, the fact that Brendan Dassey was convicted and is STILL in prison for this is reprehensible. That poor kid was railroaded in his interrogation and the "confession" he gave didn't even make sense when compared to the physical evidence.

This is not a true statement. Investors found charred bones in the fire pit and wouldn't let the county coroner near the site, which is completely illegal. Burn barrels were taken off scene and returned before the remains were found. There were also 4 bones and blood found at a quarry adjacent to the property. The cadaver dogs initially lead them there.

During the trial, the DA said not to worry about those bones because they werent proven to be human. In 2011, those animal bones were illegally taken from evidence and given to the victims family to bury with the victim. Nothing to see here folks.

I believe this confession is in fact false, but Steve Avery and his cousin are innocent and set up by corrupt law enforcement. They had motive.

His lawyer, Zellner, is the best in the business and I wish she'd take on the Sandusky case to figure out what truly went on.
