I love Olde Tyme hockeyGreat videos.
I loved the fights and the checking, it was a privilege to live in that era. On the other hand, about a month ago I was on YouTube watching one of the dynasty Islander teams play against the Minnesota Northstar’s back in ‘81 and they looked slow and lethargic compared to today’s hockey players. I can’t believe how much faster the game is today.I love Olde Tyme hockey
This is the video Sgt Carter got mad at me for. He could post all the Bruins fights he wanted, but don’t you dare post one of a Bruin getting torn up - least of all Taz
In his honor I will counter with this one... a fight I vividly remember from my youth. You just don't see arse-kicking like this anymore...
He wrecked a lot of dudes. He wrecked that dude!
Stan Jonathan was the Tie Domi of his era in a way - outweighed, outsized, lack of reach, but no tougher guy.He wrecked a lot of dudes.
Great left hand late that did serious damageIn his honor I will counter with this one... a fight I vividly remember from my youth. You just don't see arse-kicking like this anymore...
The thing I always liked about SJ was he wasn't an asshole on the ice. He wasn't one of those guys that played right on the edge of dirty and annoying. He wasn't a cheap shot artist like many of the smaller guys are today. I'm not saying Domi was super dirty but he was a bit "chippy". Although if SJ was in the penalty box when that fan came crashing in I'm sure he'd have reacted the same way.Stan Jonathan was the Tie Domi of his era in a way - outweighed, outsized, lack of reach, but no tougher guy.

Ulf was dirtier than Domi so I never shed a tear when that happened.Well, Domi could certainly be more than a bit chippy. He could be dangerously dirty.

So what happened 301 days prior that precipitated this event?
This is my all time favorite. Gillies landed two or three punches and broke Hospodar’s face.
Lou Lameriello looked like he wanted to kill DomiAbsolutely agreed. Regardless, that was a gutless shot by Domi. And that cheap shot on Niedermayer was even worse.
That fight was over before it even started.![]()
