March 26, 1997 Red Wings - Avalanche hockey fight!

This is the video Sgt Carter got mad at me for. He could post all the Bruins fights he wanted, but don’t you dare post one of a Bruin getting torn up - least of all Taz

I love Olde Tyme hockey
I loved the fights and the checking, it was a privilege to live in that era. On the other hand, about a month ago I was on YouTube watching one of the dynasty Islander teams play against the Minnesota Northstar’s back in ‘81 and they looked slow and lethargic compared to today’s hockey players. I can’t believe how much faster the game is today.

In his honor I will counter with this one... a fight I vividly remember from my youth. You just don't see arse-kicking like this anymore...

Stan Jonathan was the Tie Domi of his era in a way - outweighed, outsized, lack of reach, but no tougher guy.
The thing I always liked about SJ was he wasn't an asshole on the ice. He wasn't one of those guys that played right on the edge of dirty and annoying. He wasn't a cheap shot artist like many of the smaller guys are today. I'm not saying Domi was super dirty but he was a bit "chippy". Although if SJ was in the penalty box when that fan came crashing in I'm sure he'd have reacted the same way.

Well, Domi could certainly be more than a bit chippy. He could be dangerously dirty.

That fight was over before it even started.:eek::eek:

I saw a great story recently where Gillies talked about being teammates with Hospodar in Buffalo. He had Hospodar over for dinner one night. When Hospodar walked in Gillies’ daughter asked him, “Did you ever fight my dad?” and Gillies had to quickly change the subject.
