since the field expanded to 64+ teams for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in 1985:

First time in NCAA history a #16 seed beat a #1 seed

First time in NCAA history a Regional sweet 16 has failed to include a #1, #2, #3, or #4 seed

(South Region sweet 16 features #9 Kansas State, #5 Kentucky, #11 Loyala-Chicago, #7 Nevada)
