You can’t take it over state lines, but you don’t have to be a NJ resident to purchase it. Since I have a home at the shore, I could use it there if I was so inclined but I know nothing about these products. Can anyone enlighten me about what these shops are like in other states? What products are available? What are the costs, etc. recommendations? thanks

Don't be alarmed when you go and there's security like an armored car is there - these places can only legally deal in cash because Congress won't reschedule marijuana and banks are prohibited from dealing with them. Total bullshit but that's a quirk of our system.

Funnily enough, however, the Commonwealth absolutely has no problem charging credit cards and accepting fees to bribe them to allow you to purchase it for "medical" purposes here.

I am against the legalization of MJ, but if you live in NJ I understand the exception.

Download the Weedmaps App. and the Leafly App they are invaluable.
Don't go nuts, the strains are waaayyy more potent than what you might remember.
If they have edibles go easy.
My current fav is a Indica dominant hybrid called Hammerhead Popcorn but its loaded at a 27+ THC and I've been told that it can reach as high as 34% and thats just in the flower. If your a newbie I would not mess with it.
But a good Go to is OG Kush.

@BBrown any scuttlebutt to share about the potential for legalization in Maryland? I understand that there’s a bill somewhere in the legislative pipeline.

Not sure what state you live in where it sounds like you are buying weed legally. What is the pricing like in a legal state? Haven't done it since college but did a coffeehouse in Amsterdam a couple of years ago.

So far its been pretty quiet but I thought there was another bill put in a few weeks ago.
But I have no idea where it stands.
At some point the money off the tax is going to start looking very tempting.

I'm in MD and its still only Medicinal but its pretty easy to get a card.
Flower can range from 35-65 an 1/8th for flower, concentrates can start out at 40 and go up to 100.00 for .5 gram. The edibles in MD are just ok, Colorado has a better selection. Ours are mostly tablets, chews, troches, tincture but no chocolate. LOL.
Other stores may vary, this is just the one around me and its pretty highly (no pun intended) regarded. There some other stores that are not as well run or stocked.

Hmmmm. What you just described begs the question. Does any of the above affect your driving ability? And if so, how would a policeman detect it on a suspected DUI stop?

My nearest recreational dispensary is a mile away here in IL. I’m no expert, but have some chocolate covered espresso beans that avg 5mg sativa THC. I’m guessing about 12 hours puts you in a safe to drive zone, but I’m guessing if you get tested that might be a problem at 10mg, but I suggest much more research.

Edit: The list price on 20 of the espresso beans above is $30, but they often have 10% off. In addition they do a loyalty credit that’s on the order of 10%.

I also got a fairly potent hybrid flower (MAC - Miracle Alien Cookies) in a modest 1g size just to see how it compared to my memory of my limited experience from 35-40 years ago. Seems potent and I didn’t want to push my luck regarding the outcome. It contained 7 buds for $18, I believe. I can stop short of a full per session for my purposes.

I’m not a cannabis guy by history, but the beans do get me into an efficient sleep zone, which helps if I have some minor physical ailment from running too hard or shoveling snow for 4 hours.

The SAFE Banking Act was DOA under the prior senate leadership but it's more hopeful now. Of course it would be moot if the MORE Act is passed first. The whole cash only system is a robbery waiting to happen.

I’m looking for pain relief, not to get high. What would you recommend for that? Thanks

Oh wow I am not the person for that. There are doctors and bud tenders that can do that for you.
If it were me maybe CBD is the way to start.
But I'm strictly weekend recreational...well mostly. ;)
