The ASX was initially tipped to open about 0.6 per cent lower,but that guesstimate was based on SPI futures which last trade before the news broke that the FBI is sticking with its initial view that Hillary Clinton's handling of her emails wasn't a crime.

"This is good news for investors who have an appetite for risk in this environment," said Naeem Aslam, chief market analyst at Think Markets UK. "All that drama and yet the FBI director is sticking to the same conclusion that they had in July with respect to Hillary Clinton's email."
