A few comments…

1. Contrast with the white school shooters, there is no need for a psychoanalysis of the crime. Why not. Because the motive is clear. It was about money. They were burglarizing houses and got caught! Jesus, these sociologist need to get real jobs.
2. If this is about personal development, finding meaning in life and dignity then where pray tell are the parents? That’s their job, not the state’s. Furthermore, do these kids even know who their daddy is?
3. They claim juvenile services and the youth justice system failed. These services and systems cost money. You eventually reach the point of diminishing returns and need to redirect funds to where there’s a ROI. Dawnta Harris has a rap sheet a mile long and was ‘on the lamb’ when he killed Officer Amy Caprio. Sometimes you just gotta cut a man loose.
4. Once-upon-a-time when we were organized into tribes and competing with other tribes over hunting resources, if you had someone who wasn’t ‘pulling his weight’ then you gave him a piece of jerky and sent him on his way. It’s no different today. Tribes have become nations. Canada is not that far away.
5. We have a myriad of different races and cultures coexisting in America today. Yes? Well, given this diversity I find it amusing in these “issues of race” that there’s only one which constantly cries wolf. And it isn’t black immigrants, for they appreciate what America has to offer. Remember this the next time you’re watching the antics of the CBC on C-Span.
6. Deluca says it’s important to remember Harris is not your typical kid. That’s fine. But a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and that’s important in today’s global economy.
