Maryland stinks, but OSU is beatable

You're missing what the key for the OSU season is - their defense. In the past few years, they've collapsed against really good offenses. This OSU D looks pretty solid
But they don’t have the O to go along with it like they’ve had in the past, which to me makes them more beatable.
OSU has 2 problems on offense.
1. The QB is still young and needs experience
2. The OL is not good.
MD is a good team.
Henderson didn't play today which is important to remember
McCord didn't turn the ball over today. He completed 18 of his last 22 for over 300 yards
We can beat them but you're not giving them enough credit.
They're not. They're mediocre at best.
Ohio State slept walked through the first half and won easily
Our defense is probably better but their offense is probably better. Should be a great game.
I actually consider this OSU team more legit than the previous OSU teams just because of the really good defense. I never thought - honestly - that they could hold Maryland to under 300 yards and only 17 points. Their offense will continue to improve because of that new (sort of) OL which I think is their key going forward. That should be a whale of a game between PSU and OSU in a couple of weeks.
I think the OL is a major contributor to any QB issues. It isn't awful, but it looks similar to most PSU OLs over the last few decades, and that isn't a compliment. It's certainly not a unit that can control the LOS against better teams, and that's unusual for tOSU.
Maryland is 5-1 and 2-1 in the B1G. They outplayed a top 10 team away for a half. Not bad.
Let's wait and see how they progress as the year goes along. Their OL is the key. I'm impressed with their young QB especially in the 2nd half of the ND and Maryland games
I think most B1G followers knew the OSU OL would be a work in progress but, man, that defense is really solid which I never thought I'd say about any OSU team under Day. I actually like this OSU team better than the previous 2 or 3.
The two Big Ten wins are Michigan State and Indiana. 5-1 means nothing. There's a reason, their schedule, that they were 5-0 and unranked. Anyone can play with a team for a half. Indiana did with Ohio State--are they good?
Yep. I'm impressed with both QBs. I knew about Allar but I didn't know much about McCord coming into the season. He's impressive and doesn't make mistakes (same with Allar).
OSU is undefeated with wins over ND & MD. I wouldn't take them lightly.
Anyone can play with a team for a half? No they can't, especially in an away game. I said MD is good, I did not say they are top 10. They are not. OSU was never really able to run the ball. Watch out for them especially if you play MD there.

And, yes, anyone can play with a team for a half--ask any Georgia fan--they see it almost weekly
Our game vs. Maryland will be similar to your game vs. Maryland.
It’s a toss up. Like the PSU defensive matchup vs. O$U but thought O$U DL vs. PSU OL was a miss match but MD OL did pretty good. Game will be won by the first team to 20 pts.
Some teams can hang for a half. Certainly not all. No, Indiana is not a good team, but where did they do their hanging? Don't make proclamations about PSU until you play somebody. You'll know in 2 weeks, certainly not next week.
So somehow you're taking some of this as an insult to Ohio State or praising Penn State when it was neither. Ohio State has established themselves as elite based on past success. Penn State has not. Ohio State started slow today and still won easily which is a sign of a great team. It's just not necessary to pretend Maryland is better than they are. Ohio State already has an impressive win over Notre Dame while Penn State hasn't played anyone with a pulse. I'm not sure if you just assume everyone here is criticizing Ohio State but you're way off base here.

Holding MD to 17 points is impressive. The only thing Ohio State has on the rest of college football is Harrison Jr. but that may be enough. Nobody can begin to cover that guy. Ohio State could just throw to him every play and that might be unstoppable.
I'm not so sure that anybody can "neutralize" him, but they can definitely lessen the damage he does. Fingers crossed.
I think that's asking a lot of anyone. Harrison will likely make some plays...we just have to limit them and probably make some of our own.
I am just saying that I think that Maryland is a better team than they are being given credit. That is all.
ND did a good job on Harrison. It is one of the reasons it was a game as close as it could be. They did a lot of double teams with their best CB and a safety.
You somehow turned it into me overrating Penn State
Their best win is...Michigan State or Indiana...they haven't done anything to prove they're good.
MD did more than hang around for a half. It was only a 3 pt game 5 mins into Q4. The game was decided on 2 MD TOs and poor clock management to end the half.
Credit MD for putting up a good fight on the road and OSU for making the plays they needed.
Ohio State separated themselves after Maryland's first drive of the second half. Once it was tied at 17 did anyone think Maryland would win? Ohio State won by 20. What happened today is exactly what happens with Penn State most weeks. They have areas to improve but they won comfortably.
Truthfully, not sure how we can say Maryland's good this year given their schedule outside the 3 likely losses.
They are 5-1. I don't know if you are overrating PSU. Who have they played this year?
