Mat-Town Open II and a Bunch of Other Stuff About Beer, Kerk and Other Wrestling Stuff!

Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre owns Stegmaier, my BIL and I took a tour there. Best tour ever, it ended in the tap room and the guy said he would stay and pour free beer as long as we wanted. We had to call for a ride home from the wives!

they also do a lot of contract brewing, when I was there they had a bunch of Brooklyn Brewery beers around.

Do they still have the free community tap, or is that urban legend?

It’s called the Eternal Tap.
Unfortunately, it is limited now. 40 years ago, while working summer jobs, to pay for my PSU tuition, we would head over at 4pm and back then you could stand there as long as you wanted, drinking free beer. No one ever came to monitor how long or how many glasses you had. They had glass jars in a rack to drink from, the only rule, at that time, is you had to wash your own glass and put it back in the drying rack, when you were done.

Any record of how many livers committed suicide? :)

Thanks for standing up for Straub. I married into that family. Unfortunately the side that does not control the stock. However, I did get the old Straub keg fridge from her grandfather when he passed at age 96. GG is still going strong at 103. Has anyone noticed that 100 isn't old in St. Marys? Maybe we should all get on the Straub.

Ridgway here - used to work at the old Speer Carbon (Airco). Lunches at the eternal tap, lol!

My Dad worked at Airco in the early seventies when I went to HS in St Marys. Straub's "Greenies" weren't bad but "Brownies" were awful.
My Dad work at Pure Carbon in Coudersport. There are a few powdered metal factories in that area, not sure why.
