Maybe Franklin coaches the way he does just to get us riled up.

Ever consider that? Of course, you know, we've got it all figured out and Franklin is a moron.

He does, and it's working.

If he would only try a little harder and get most of the wussies to jump of the edge, You think they would get tired standing on the edge all the time. Franklin could do a great favor to them and the rest of us if he just tried a little harder.

Wait until this Saturday. I think Franklin has a few things up his sleeve. Even softer zone coverage, lining up 15 yards downfield on 3rd and 4. Going up 6-0 early in the first quarter and going for two. Just wait. It’s going to be EPIC. .

I think its more like everyone would be a better Coach than Franklin.....they just choose not to be.

Or it’s easier to be better than Franklin from the comfort of your own bathroom than to step up and be an actual coach. The money's good, but who needs all that work, attention from the media, and second-guessing from fans who know more than you?

I got to experience all the "perks" with the exception of the money. Thought I was privileged to be named to my first HS coaching position in 1972....for the grand total of $375. added to my $6800 teaching salary.

I’m sure you put up with more than your fair share of know-it-all parents and fans.

I wish I had kept a diary from day 1. Let's not forget "know-it-all" school board members. Imagine putting those 37 years of "can you top this" in print?
However, I received a text from the best player on my 1984 team just last week....anxious to share with me that he had just been declared cancer free.
That's something the would be coaches and superior tacticians will never understand.

Family. Great story and glad to hear about your former player.

Franklin preaches family, and I believe the team lives it. I wonder how many players blame Franklin and the staff for the loss. Probably none. I bet all of the players own it. They’re competitors, and I don’t sense that sort of finger pointing with this team. Hopefully they all own it, players and coaches, and can focus on indiana and getting better.

Each game has its own dynamic. Each player (especially at this level) has one foot in the team room and another in the NFL (in their minds).
A coach (even at the high school level) has to recruit and retain. As a coach, you must be an artist and paint a portrait....a vision, your vision of what can be accomplished. You must be convincing in putting each player somewhere in that landscape. In addition, you need to continue to sell each athlete that the decisions you are making are consistent with the vision they bought into when they stepped on the field for the first time.
Teams.....players and coaches, share a real commitment (purchased with endless hours of study, incredible physical effort and emotional highs and lows). Because of this, they are generally more resilient and forgiving of loses than the "shave tail" fans.
I really don't miss anything about coaching except those final moments in the locker room, when the emotion and anticipation becomes almost unbearable......because its something that is shared with each person in that room.....and at least in my life, nothing replicates it.
